Current version: 1.22 – Nickels and Dimes

Excerpt from Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life:
George: Oh, now Pop, I couldn’t. I couldn’t face being cooped up for the rest of my life in a shabby little office…Oh, I’m sorry Pop, I didn’t mean that, but this business of nickels and dimes and spending all your life trying to figure out how to save three cents on a length of pipe…I’d go crazy. I want to do something big and something important.
Pop: You know, George, I feel that in a small way we are doing something important. Satisfying a fundamental urge. It’s deep in the race for a man to want his own roof and walls and fireplace, and we’re helping him get those things in our shabby little office.

The United States of America:
The United States is a country struggling with dust storms wrecking the American prairie. She is slowly pulling herself out of the Great Depression as wages and productivity slowly rise. Having learned their lesson from the tragedy of the First World War, her citizens firmly reject any impetus to become involved in another ‘European war’. Thus this industrial giant remains in its great slumber, far too busy sorting out its domestic issues to engage in any foreign intrigue. Surely the United States won’t play any role in the great conflict approaching the horizon…

Information About the Mod:

In the interwar years it is important to manage your spending and minimize consumer goods expenditure as best as you can. Use your political power wisely towards this end.

There is an alternate history path available, but it requires choosing the focus ‘political chaos’ at the very beginning of the game. That path allows for playthroughs as communists, fascists, etc.

Addressing Bugs, Features, and the like:
Remember that National Guard Divisions can be deployed for free upon the onset of war and Marine Divisions can also be deployed. Both can be expanded upon via the focus tree, which will add extra forces to be deployed for the defense of the homeland when they are needed.
Regarding the issue surrounding research – using decisions and focuses, the player can end up with many more research slots than other factions (expected to reach this point at some midpoint in the war – perhaps ’43 or so) and there are many research bonuses available in the focus tree (and also unique technologies accessed via decisions) that should help the player catch up with other nations quickly. – So I plan on leaving the US starting on 1 research slot for the next couple of updates. No more free nuke or carrier rushing, sorry.
