Description:

Kaukasus: A Transcaucasus Alternative History is an Alt-History based on: ‘What if Transcaucasia was never conquered by Soviet Russia?’

A Brief History

The Red Army failed in its invasion of Transcaucasia and was forced to leave it independent, Turkey and Azerbaijan made peace with Armenia and the Caucasus drawn into diplomatic isolation since.

Armenia

During the Winter of 1920, the British and French forces successfully secured the South Caucasus from the approaching Red Army. Lenin, initially intent on retaking the Caucasus from the Caucasian republics backed off after fierce resistance during a brief skirmish against Entente and Azerbaijani forces; However, the new Kemalist Turkey still posed a threat to Armenia, threatening an invasion of numerically superior soldiers, Armenians troops were forced to retreat from their new Western borders which were awarded to them in the Treaty of Sèvres. With the Paris Peace Conference concluded, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a white peace and were left with the territories they controlled during the Armenian–Azerbaijani War however border skirmishes in the Karabakh-Syunik border never ceased.

Georgia

Georgia since the British brokered peace with Armenia seceded into isolation. Despite uprisings and fierce resistance against the staunch Pro-Georgian policies, Georgia has refused to provide any other solution to separatists other than sending in the army to quell uprisings. The people of Sakartvelo are distraught and in desperate demand of political reform, will they restore the Bagratuni monarchy or will they succumb to Communism? With possibilities of restoring the original Transcaucasia of 1918, Georgia possesses a vast number of choices to decide the future of the Georgian state.

Azerbaijan

After the Battle of Bakü the Azerbaijani government wasn’t quite prepared to become its own nation with the lack of regulation in the army, with a democracy that hasn’t been fully integrated into the constitution and a matter of separatism in Karabakh. It is up to the Azerbaijani state to decide their future. They can choose to finally democratize itself and move on from its rivals, turning foe to friend, and solve the Karabakh question with a lasting solution. Or perhaps they won’t be taking lessons from their gory history and once again will approach the giants of the world.
