Description:

_______________________________________________________________________________

Now that there is an official DLC with a Dutch focus tree, this mod might be a bit redundant, but for the people who don’t have the DLC, or don’t plan on getting it, this should do.
HOWEVER:
-This mod isn’t compatible with 1.6.0. I tried updating it, but it gives a long list of errors I need to work out. Right now I don’t have the time to go throught it all, so I recommend reverting to version 1.5.4. for the time being until I have had time to fix these issues. (Game properties in Steam, BETAS, select Cornflakes 1.5.4)
_______________________________________________________________________________

Hello everybody!

Okay so I recently got into HoI4 and noticed that the Netherlands are mostly just a generic faction. Being a Dutchman myself, I was bothered by the current representation of the Netherlands in the game. (Like the lack of the historical provinces, missing resources, and a generic focus tree.)
So I decided to mod the game.

Now I am aware that there is a DLC coming that will remedy some of these issues. But still, I am not going to wait around for that.

There are two versions of this mod; the full one, and the “lite” version.

The “lite” version offers only an edited map and province control. It makes no changes to the government or the focus tree. The Netherlands now has the full 11 provinces as states in the game. These provinces have been updated with the oil that was historically discovered in some of those provinces, and a higher steel production.
Also, the resources in the overseas territories of Curacao and Suriname have been edited to reflect the oil production of the former and the production of aluminum and other resources from the latter. The Dutch Indies remain unedited. Also the manpower has been slightly adjusted.

The state of Zuid-Holland now has access to a few strategic resources as a way of representing the different goods entering the country through the port of Rotterdam. These are minor amounts, but give a higher strategic value to this region.

The map has been slightly edited to reflect the correct shape of the states, to visually show some cities on the map, and victory points have been added. The river the IJssel has also been added. Furthermore the crossing from Friesland to Noord-Holland over the Afsluitdijk is now a watercrossing.

The full version offers a handmade national focus tree with a total of 110 focuses to choose from in 3 different branching trees. Some of these focuses add modifiers, others add constructions, some give war goals, there are a few that give control over certain states and finally there are a bunch that overhaul your government. Including one that allows you to change your government into a full monarchy again through a decision.

Talking about decisions, the full version also has a couple of decisions that can help you modify your government. Either to follow the path of history, or go into a different direction all together.

In the full mod there are also five different national ideas added, that can be modified later during the game. And the historical leaders of the democratic branch have been given appropriate traits to reflect their historical characteristics.

A research slot has also been added.

Now, modding this on my own also means that I don’t have the time to fully playtest every branch of the focus tree soon. So please, if you notice any errors, bugs, issues, or unbalanced effects, please let me know and I will try to resolve it!
Another thing I’d like to mention is that this isn’t tested in conjunction with any other mods, so I have no idea which mod is compatible. But I’d guess more mods are compatible with the “lite” version.

If there is anything you would like to see added to this mod, please let me know, and I’ll look into it.
