Realistic Air Missions
This mod started out as a very simple and lightweight tool to add historical mission capabilities to existing vanilla aircraft (you can access to that here). However, in time, it has grown into a substantial overhaul of the air tech tree and the way aircraft work.
HOW IT WORKS:
With this mod you will get:
– Added mission capabilities for fighters, heavy fighters, medium bombers and heavy bombers.
– An improved air tech tree that is more historically correct and logical. For example; apart from the Sea Hurricane and the Seafire, all carrier fighters were separate designs and not a variant of the land based versions. The same applies to carrier-borne dive and torpedo bombers as well. Hence, they get their own trees.
– New aircraft variants such as Fighter-Bombers and Maritime Patrol variants for bombers.
– A new tech line for large, long-range, maritime patrol flying boats.
– An overhaul of aircraft stats that turns aircraft research into a cost vs benefit decision. No more mindless research of all aircraft whose year has come. They now have their upsides and downsides, forcing you to make strategic decisions. (You can find the new stats with their comparisons here[docs.google.com].)
– More historical researchable aircraft types, rather than experimentals and prototypes (where possible).
– An expanding library of country specific aircraft models and graphics in future updates.
CONFLICTING MODS
Check the "Mod Compatibility List" for more information.
Do report and contribute with the mods you are using.
If you are having compatibility issues and/or would prefer the previous version with only the mission extensions, go here.
ISSUES
– A couple of plane icons in the airfield selection interface are placed further down then they should be. This became an issue after the 1.4 update and I have not been able to find the cause yet.
– Apparently one cannot assign air wings that can perform naval missions to armies. This seems to be a Paradox sourced issue. Don’t yet know if this is modifiable, but I highly doubt it, because mission parameters are hard coded.
PLANNED FUTURE EXPANSIONS
– More real aircraft for minor countries with their names and graphics.
– An overhaul of jet aircraft trees.
– The Road To ’56
– Extended Technology + Industry + Equipment
– Millenium Dawn: Modern Day Mod (future update)
– Vanilla+ (future update)
*Disclaimer: The likelihood of these mods using an obsolete version is high.
– FoxHound; for making most of the flying boat graphics.
– Louella; for her keen eyes.
– Axe99; for lending me an ear when I needed it.
– Most importantly, Hauptbahnhof Alex; the mod couldn’t have existed without his generosity.
