HGO is finally out of beta and is in release 1.0!

Historic Geographical Overhaul is an extensive and complete overhaul of HOI4. Making historical maps has never been so easy! HGO allows you to create any map from the fall of the HRE to the present day. Or, if that’s not your speed, you can make alternate history maps to your hearts desire. This mod adds over 1200 new nations, both starting and releasable, and adds 11000 new states, more than ten times the vanilla amount.

This mod is a complete overhaul of HOI4. As such, the only mods that are compatible are music and graphical mods. There is even a graphics mod for HGO: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2184359196
This mod IS NOT ironman compatible.

Q: Where is everything? Why can’t I advance time? Or open production? Or assign armies?
A: HGO is an overhaul of the game to the point of reducing it down to a niche part of the fanbase: Map makers. TNO says that they’re mod isn’t a map painter, but our mod definitely is.

Q: Why does the water look so… weird?
A: In order to create alternate coastlines like Atlantropa and the African Lakes, water has been completely removed and replaced with a blank named country that essentially functions as water.

Q: Can I use the provinces from HGO for my own mod?
A: Yes! Just credit us when you post it to the steam workshop with a link back to HGO. That’s it.

Q: Why are countries not in factions or puppets anymore?
A: For some reason, when a country is in a faction or is a puppet (or both), it slows the transfer process of transferring states. Hence why they’re disabled. However, creating factions and renaming them are supported within HGO.

Q: Do you plan on adding bookmarks for different years/scenarios?
A: Potential in a future update.

Q: Are you guys going to expand into the arctic?
A: Actually, we did!
