Vic2 to HoI4 Converter

Welcome to the Vic2 to HoI4 Converter project! The goal of this project is to allow a Victoria 2 campaign to be transferred and continued in Hearts of Iron 4, so you may continue your game uninterrupted, from 1826 to 1950+, and further using our other converters from Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis 4.

Running a continuous campaign from Crusader Kings all the way to Hearts of Iron is called running a mega-campaign.

• Converter currently supports HoI4 1.10 and Victoria 2 3.0.4. HoI4 DLCs are optional, both Vic2 expansions are mandatory.
• This mod is not intended to be enabled in game. It is only a delivery vehicle for the converter’s download link.
• You can also download the converter directly from our forums thread[forum.paradoxplaza.com] or from Github.

To set up the converter, you’ll need to follow the steps below:

1. Subscribe to the this mod.
2. If the mod does not immediately begin downloading, you may need to start HoI4 launcher to trigger the download.
3. Go to your mod folder (usually C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamappsWorkshopContent394360733122837, or elsewhere if you moved your steam library)
4. Inside it find and open downloadLink.txt.
5. Within that file is a direct link to the converter’s download location. Copy the link and paste it into a browser to download it.
6. Unzip the downloaded converter to a new folder by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract All…
7. Finally, go to the extracted converter’s directory and fire it up by running ConverterFrontend.exe.

If you downloaded the converter directly from forums or github, you only need to execute steps 6 and 7.

Very generally, it takes your Victoria 2 saved game and converts it into a Hearts of Iron 4 mod.
You then have to enable that mod when starting HoI4 launcher:

1. Create a new playset in the launcher.
2. Add the conversion mod into the new playset, along with other mods you want to use (such as graphical ones)
3. On the Home page of the launcher, make sure the new playset is enabled and selected before pressing Play.

To resolve issues we will always need your conversion’s log.txt. You can find it in your converter’s folder after conversion. Upload your log.txt to the release thread, along with a detailed description of your problem. We may need additional data like your running savegame or mods used, which you can also upload to the forums directly.

Keep in mind Steam discussion below is not suited to troubleshooting as you cannot upload files we need.
