Welcome to the War of the Worlds mod:

Major heads up, it appears the models are broken for the moment due to a paradox issue with motorized (it appears). You may need to disable models for the moment. This is annoying, I know

Small public service announcement, the Martian AI is rather broken at the moment. There isn’t a whole lot I as a modder can do, however until the base game AI is improved I would recommend boosting the Martians in the pre-game set up if they’re going to be played by the AI.


"We know now that in the early years of the twentieth century this world was being watched closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own….With infinite complacence people went to and fro over the earth about their little affairs, serene in the assurance of their dominion over this small spinning fragment of solar driftwood which by chance or design man has inherited out of the dark mystery of Time and Space.

Yet across an immense ethereal gulf, minds that are to our minds as ours are to the beasts in the jungle, intellects vast, cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. In the thirty-ninth year of the twentieth century came the great disillusionment. It was near the end of October….On this particular evening, October 30th, the Crossley service estimated that thirty-two million people were listening in on radios…."

1936 Start:
To guarantee the Martians show up, begin as the USA and play normally up until October, 1938. It is around this point the broadcast event should fire, choose the bottom option (called "Its only a matter of time"). Wait about a month and the Martians should begin their invasion.

To play the Martians from the 1936 start choose the bottom option in the invasion event (called "We should try and make peace").

1938 Start:
Choose your desired country and begin, the war itself should start immediately after loading into the game. Although this is the easiest method to start playing the mod I would still recommend going from the 1936 start so that you do not miss any flavor events.

1939 Start:
Choose your desired country and begin, though be careful if you choose the United States as they are very close to capitulation. This is recommended for players who want to either have an even harder game as the humans, or want to experience the end game Martian events quicker.

  • Updated mod for 1.11 after much delay…
  • Disabled new tanks for Mars, uses old system for now (mech submod possible in the future).
  • HMS Warspite is now a battlecrusier, and sister ship to the Thunderchild.
  • Thunderchild/Warspite starting event for England, with possiblity of recommisioning Thunderchild early, but for the cost of the later event.
  • Invasion focuses now activates mission that starts the invasion afterwards instead being a randomly timed event (for clarity).
  • Martian advisor’s/military command no longer have random names (since the feature was removed)…expect more little easter eggs here and there.
  • Xeno Telepathy causes corresponding US-characters to be retired now.
  • Reflavored commandeer trains decision for the Martians.
  • Added naval xp to Invasion Command focus to prevent a softlock lategame.
  • Updated 1938 country starts (some nations need more work checking for accuracy).
  • Fixed 1938 unit starts for ENG (Naval only), GER, USA (Naval only), ♥♥♥ (Naval, and unit positions only).
  • Fixed the Martian recon being cavalry, now motorized like it should be.
  • Fixed bug with import decision triggers.
  • Fixed invasion end event firing endlessly, hopefully.
  • Other minor misc changes, fixes and additions.

Final (better) 3D models will come…one day.
