Description:

Eight Years’ War of Resistance is a mod that aims to improve the historical accuracy of the Asian Region without compromising balance and also bring in interesting game mechanics to make the game more enjoyable.

This mod adds numerous new historical nations in the Asian region along with unique skins, events, focus trees, decisions and unique tech. Some existing nations, like China and Japan, has also been reworked. They now have a much more extensive and historical focus tree along with new advisors, events, and decisions. Numerous icons are added for companies and advisors, with quality and style similar to the Vanilla ones.

NATIONAL FOCUSES, EVENTS &DECISIONS

New focus trees are added for many states in the region along with new decisions and events. The focus tree of Japan has also been reworked to improve gameplay and historical accuracy.

PLAYABILITY

Current Nations w/ Comprehensive National Focuses:
  – Japan, China, Communist China, Sinkiang, Mongolia, Manchukuo(WTT only), Indochina
Current Nations w/o completely unique National Focuses but are playable and have flavors:
  – East Chahar, Pailingmiao Council, Northeastern Army, Guangxi, Burma, Sichuan
Currently Playable Nations:
  – Pretty much all of them, except for probably Kumul and the two mini puppets in 1939. (too smol)
Trivia:
  – You can actually play as the East Hebei Autonomous Council and later on become Wang’s
China without a tagswitch, meaning that your advisors and research won’t be lost along the way.
  – If you want to play as Mengjiang, play as the little puppet with Japan’s color(East Chahar).
You will become Mengjiang later, historically. And don’t worry, Prince Demchugdongrub will
   defect to you.

MAP OVERHUAL

The map has been overhauled to increase histoical accuracy and fits the needs of gameplay. Numerous states has been added and borders has been redrawn.

UNIQUE SKINS & TECH VARIANTS

For most warlords and Japanese client states, new custom skins and tech are added, adding more flavor to the game. Most of these are even available without Waking the Tiger DLC!

FOREIGN ADVISORS

A new set of advisors "Foreign Advisors" is introduced to simulate the Western advisors in Asia during those times.
Right now only China has unique foreign adivors, but all countries in the world gets a set of generic ones. New unique advisors may be added in the future.

IDEOLOGY

This mod adds a new ideology Socialism. The ideology has its own political advisers and political decisions. The reason for this is to properly position the Ideologies of the Chinese Democratic League(has strong ties w/ the communists but somewhat democratic) and Shakai Taishuto(A socialist party that shares somewhat of a common ground w/ National Socialism).

In addition, ideology "non-aligned" is now renamed "reactionary". World tension thresholds for it are reduced and some other limitations are also removed.

Q: Does this mod require Waking the Tiger DLC to work?

A: No. However, due to Paradox’s ToS a fair amount of content from this mod are unavailable without the DLC. As a result, it is recommended to turn on the DLC for the full experience of the mod.

Q: There are so many new warlords and puppets. Are they all historical?

A: Yes, I based the mod mostly on this Chinese map and various other sources. You can look into them if you like.

Q: Why does Japan starts off as a democratic country?

A: Japan actually starts off as an reactionary country, not democratic. And the reason being that Japan wasn’t a fascist entity yet in 1936. In fact, the two major political parties in Japan then were democratic, but due to various reasons a non-partisan was the prime minister then. Japan even held an election in 1936 shortly before the February 26th Incident. Here’s the election result[en.wikipedia.org].

Q: Does a warlord still get a new focus tree when it takes over China?

A: Yes. 2 new focus trees are specifically designed for that purpose. One for nationalist warlord, one for communist warlord. This however, is unfortunately only available with Waking the Tiger DLC.

Q: Can I use content from this mod for my own mod?

A: Mostly no, since this is a project created not But if you really really want to and I can see the effort you put into your project(meaning you have something to show me), we can have discussion about that.

Huge thanks to Wanniang, the author of the East Focus mod
The prototype of this mod is based on roemer9’s Better Realism Project, which I partially participated in. Although this mod has developed very differently from his mod, it won’t be here without his mod. The foreign advisors part was created by me, then later reintroduced to his mod. Also, the portraits of the mod is mostly adopted from VictorXoda’s Black & White Portraits
