Description:

It all began during the darkest days of the Russian Civil War. The Red Army, fighting on all fronts, sought to expand their army by any means and to pursue this "Operation Hades" was formed. Initially created to win the support of the superstitious Russian people and nothing further, the organization looked into supernatural means of finding fighting soldiers for communist Russia.

As the war continued the organization began morphing more into a cult of sorts than a standard division and became increasingly secretive to the point that even those in Russian high command who had ordered the creation of "Operation Hades" began to think of it as nothing more than a folk tale. Eventually the war was won without the aid of monsters and goblins and those who still knew of the now secretive cult prepared to shut down the operation once and for all. That was until "Operation Hades" finally bore the dark fruit of years of occult research.

Deep in the Siberian woodlands on the sight of immense magical nexus points, the cult was able to summon the soldiers mother Russia requested. They were called "Ghouls", and they were unlike anything the world had ever seen before.

The cult now stands at a crossroads as what was once thought impossible now seeks to expand far past any designs of men. Can the cult stay in power and tame the wild ghouls, or will the ghouls break free and reek untold havoc on the motherland?

Based off the netflix short film "The Secret War", Operation Hades expands upon the established lore and creates a world were monsters are not only real, but swarm from the frozen wastes.

Follow along three different focus trees for different play styles involving subversion, cooperation, and sheer brute force as the frozen lands of Siberia turn into a bloodbath of men and monsters.

Subversion:
The cult is met by a strange figure with a deep hatred for the Soviet Union. Bending the once loyal cult of the USSR to their will, they begin laying the ground work of isolating their old foe before dealing the killing blow.

Cooperation:
The cult has remained loyal to the motherland and seeks to strengthen their ties and spread the glory of the Soviet Union to the world.

Brute Force:
The ghouls overthrow the cult that summoned them and seek to expand unchecked throughout Siberia.

Creators note:

Hello everyone,

First off let me say that all rights and what not are reserved by Netflix and that this is a fan parody so please don’t sue me haha.

I was just inspired by the short film, which I highly recommend you watch if you have netflix, that I wanted to bring a small mod of it into Hearts of Iron 4.

This mod is meant to create a juggernaut of a country and give the player a sense of power. It becomes OP after a while if left to it’s own devices but honestly I think this falls in line with how the Ghouls in the film were portrayed.

The film only showed numerous ground type ghouls so I focused more on infantry rather than tanks or airplanes. (If you ask about ships then look at a map of central Siberia and ask yourself if a battleship can grow legs.)

Safe to say this is my first mod and I spent most of my time focusing on fleshing out the focus tree so I apologize that some other areas are lacking. I tried my best making this and it was a steep learning curve creating the tree alone to work. I hope you enjoy it and if you have any suggestions or ideas feel free to comment. Can’t say I’ll get them all or any, but if they’re good I’ll try to add them in.

Known issues:
– No country flag for country or over units.
– The country flag for units will shift between different countries. ( I was oddly okay with this since it made me think that it was showing all the people the ghouls had eaten and converted into new ghouls)
– I couldn’t figure out events so I had to make do with week long focus tree entries.
– Division templates are also not my strong suit so I provided a basic one. However, following along the focus tree will give you plenty of chances to customize your own units easily.
– The counter for the focus tree keeps increasing even when no focus is selected. So if you a new focus after waiting a day after the previous one was completed the new focus will still count as a day already researched. (no idea how to fix this.)
– Some military high command staff are broken, though I’ve not been able to fully remove them.
