Vive le Roi – Survival of Ancien Régime
Sometimes things take drastic changes, other times radicals have to deal with the status quo. We know better and we’ll keep saying "Vive le Roi!" until we’ve defeated the British!
Vive le Roi – Survival of the Ancien Régime is a overhaul mod for Hearts of Iron IV: taking place in a universe where the revolution never took off and the Ancien Régime was able to stabilize itself, delaying many political movements. With this the rivalry between the British and French continued, the British came out on top as one of two global powers. The other being Russia.
The New World has largely been divided between the British and Spanish, with Spain controlling most of South America and the UK having control over most of North America with Mexico as a de facto puppet of the empire. The US on the other hand lies as a loser stuck between British influence with a populace that is vary of getting into another war.
Only mere years ago there was a great conflict between the Entente (A coalition between France, the German States and the Ottoman Empire) against the Allies who later was supported by Russia. This conflict became known as the Great War, and many states are now recovering from it.
- 12 unique focus trees, with 7 of the majors starting with one.
- 1 new ideology: Enlightened Absolutism
- Decisions available only to specific ideologies

The mod has been in development since 2017 by me with the goal of keeping it somewhat close to the vanilla experience in terms of ability to produce armies and prepare for conflict. It has been a project that has long been dear to me which I wouldn’t have completed hadn’t it been for feedback I got from friends regarding it.
As only one person has been working on it for the most part quality varies a lot between things I made in the early 2017 and things I made during 2020 but the goal for me is to make sure that everything will be up to standard overtime.
Recommended to not have any other mods on, unless aesthetically in nature.
