EaW – Ghosts of Yore
Ghosts of Yore (GoY) is a narrative-driven submod for Equestria at War aimed at thorough improvement of underdeveloped nations of the world: expansive focus trees, frequent events, developing stories, and challenging gameplay opportunities await you.
The current release 3.1.7.1 includes four reworked nations: Griffonstone, Arantiga, Pomovarra and the Northern Tribes (going by their native name, Tir Deighe).
Hundreds of years ago, the Kingdom of Pomovarra was the greatest rival of Aquileia. Proud Pomovarran warriors fought valiantly – yet in the end, the Old Kingdom was destroyed, with its royal bloodline, the lineage of which could be traced back to the mythical Age of Heroes, was extinguished and Pomovarra turned into yet another province of Aquileia. ‘The Periphery’ – that’s how Aquileians called these lands – were subject to Aquileisation and economic exploitation. Every time Pomovarrans rose up, they were crushed. And as centuries passed, their numbers and culture withered. But when Griffonia was engulfed in the Republican Revolution, Pomovarrans rebelled once again, hoping to regain their freedom. History however repeated itself, and patricians of nearby Flowena, scared by the threat of resurgent Pomovarra, brought an army of mercenaries led by rogue Reichsarmee colonel Leopold Reiher to quell the uprising. And so he did. But afterwards, Reiher refused to hand over his conquests to Flowenans, and instead crowned himself as ‘Prince-colonel of Pomovarra’. For twenty years he ruled his troubled fiefdom while locals were gathering strength for yet another revolt.
Finally, the shaky status quo comes to an end. Reiher musters his army of mercenaries and prepares to enact his greatest plan. If he succeeds, he will become the richest and most notorious warlord in Griffonia, otherwise, he will be dead. The first step is to deal with problems on the home front. From the underground two rebel commanders have risen. Temporarily united in their hatred of the occupiers, each of them sees a very different future for Pomovarra. Olivier Morel, a rabid nationalistic demagogue, wishes to restore Pomovarra to greatness of old legends through conquest. On the other hand, Harmann Camriz, a prominent guerilla commander, aims to secure Pomovarran sovereignty through international connections. Both are aware that Pomovarra’s fate and history have been intertwined with Aquileia, manifesting in brutal wars… But is there a chance for the two eternal enemies to bury the hatchet or will their rulers repeat the cycle once again?
