Duarte’s Wild Ride
In Kaiserreich I have spent a huge amount of time playing as the tiny nation of Portugal, which despite its old content it was a fun and dynamic nation, and was very enjoyable to form a small empire with the nation. I felt that, with the history of the country and the national populist government, it would naturally be a very aggressive and hyper-imperialist nation. I therefore have taken my first foray into Hoi4 modding to make this vision a reality.
Build a Portuguese superpower in Duarte’s Wild Ride, fighting wars on every continent to ensure Portuguese hegemony. The task is challenging, with many great powers and nations standing in the way of Portugal, however with extensive use of scripted peace events, your road to greatness should be challenging, but not painful.
With foreign policy conducted via decisions, there are many directions for expansions, with a great deal of replayability. Playing as Portugal in this mod should give you a level of immersion and some degree of suspension of disbelief at happenings in the mod, whether a more realistic creation of the Pink Map, or a less realistic creation of Portuguese China.
- Use the numerous new decisions to build a Portuguese superpower
- Conclude your colonial wars decisively with scripted peace events for most wars
- Integrate the Ultramarine Provinces into the Portuguese Realm
- Create a giant colony in China
- Duel with the Great Powers in the name of tradition and morality
In the short term, I intend to add more scripted peace events, more puppets alike China with decisions to create similar authorities in the powers Portugal may fight in the ‘Portuguese Crusade’, and better localisation. In the long term, I intend a total rework of Portugal, beyond just foreign policy as it currently exists.
Kaiserreich is required to play DWR, and it will not run without it. Compatibility with other Kaiserreich submods is not guaranteed, however as long as they do not touch the files of Portugal (POR), Liangguang (GXC) and the cosmetic file for map colours, then they should be fine.
Notes
First of all, I am not Portuguese and would be happy to be corrected on any mistakes or misunderstandings that I have done in this mod. Second, for those desiring event id’s for scripted peace events:
- Events are contained between por.400 and por 557.
- There are 3 events per country per peace deal (example: por.450, por.451, por. 452)
- Each event is every 5 events, from the first event of the previous event (example: por.450, por.455, por.460)
