Description:

This is a simple mod that aims to fix some of the glaring innaccuracies with the British tank research tree.

In the base game, Britain’s tanks (or preassigned names in the tank designer, if NSB is enabled) are extremely inconsistent with their historical counterparts. An example is the Matilda II, which is classified as a 1936 light tank despite being historically one of the most heavily-armored vehicles of the early war. These problems were exacerbated by the No Step Back DLC, in which the developers seemed to have started fixing these problems, only to stop abruptly partway through. As a result, the same innaccuracies are still present, except now the chassis icons don’t correspond to the names/3D models.

Here, I’ve completely reorganized the tank tree, and partially replaced the icons for both the chassis and the finished tanks. Though not perfect, this mod makes it much closer to the historical arrangement.

The full changes are as follows:
1936 Light: Matilda II —> Mk. VII Tetrarch
1941 Light: Valentine —> Mk. VIII Harry Hopkins
1940 Medium: Cromwell —> Valentine
1943 Medium: Comet —> Cromwell
1934 Heavy: Vickers —> Matilda I
1940 Heavy: Churchill —> Matilda II
1943 Heavy: Black Prince —> Churchill
The names for the SPG, SPAA and Tank Destroyer variants have also been changed accordingly.

Canada also now uses the British chassis icons instead of the generics, with a few of the mediums replaced with American equivalents. I’m planning on going through the other Commonwealth nations once I get the time for a fully standardized British Empire-wide tank tree.

I should mention that I’ve added a few new icons for vehicles that didn’t already have them, these are all edited illustrations from https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/. I’d highly recommend visiting their site if you’re interested in this sort of thing.
