Rise of Italia is set in an alternate history with many divergences from our own. With the US Constitution unratified and Napoleon dead at the hands of the Fourth Coalition, republicanism is on the verge of failure as conservative values entrench and expand across Europe. Times of conflict and rivalries plague a Europe without the Congress of Vienna, and yet the Italian substates manage to develop and expand their reach, and partly consolidate. Their eventual unification under the Savoyard crown, inadvertently caused the Great European War of 1898- a harrowing, total 12-year conflict that concluded in a stalemate as both sides collapsed under the weight of the war effort. But Italy held strong, united and proud; and with Italian nationalism hitting its peak and the high of victory still strong, who knows what fate holds in store for them…
