Better Design Companies
Clerical update for 1.14.* No anticipated issues found based on Diff Merge.
EDIT: This is talking about the vanilla game without AAT installed. I took a look at the information about MIOs and I have no idea if MIOs will work for custom design companies or if an overhaul is needed. I do not have AAT, so consider disabling this mod if you’re having trouble with MIOs.

Frustrated with designer swapping because every designer only modifies ONE type of equipment? Tired of minors getting shafted with manufacturer bonuses? Annoyed that weapon designers don’t improve your infantry weapons? Absolutely SICK of Jets not getting any bonuses? This mod is for you!
Design Philosophy and Objectives:
1) I wanted minor nations to get in on the fun in having access to choices. There is now a wide range of options for each category.
2) Jets. Seriously, why are they not boosted by designer companies and get outperformed by Fighter III’s?
3) All designer companies should be applying their expertise on all equipment they are responsible for the research of. Isn’t that what we pay them those precious political points for?
4) Continue to encourage the player to swap designer companies that best optimizes the equipment, but don’t completely shaft them if they have to catch up on technology but lacked the PP to swap designer companies.
Notes and Known Issues:
– This mod currently only affects minor powers that uses the Generic National Focus Tree.
– Major power’s designer companies will be for a future development. Its’a huge undertaking and I haven’t decided how to best approach it between the sheer volume, historical accuracy, and how events and national focuses affects companies.
– Due to the way tank components work with NSB, Designer buffs apply only to the chasis, not the components. In NSB, Tank designer bonus is applied at the time of creating the template, instead of completing research the way others are.
– Additionally, as of NSB if you further customize Tank or Ship designs after finishing research, modifiers will be applied based on the designer you have at the time of creating the design template, overriding the research modifier. This is not something my mod can address.
