Improved Colonial Flags
Improved Colonial Flags (henceforth icflagsmod) is a mod that aims to improve the flags (and in some cases names) of major nations to work better with the autonomy system introduced by Together For Victory. While the mod will work without the DLC, it won’t be entirely historically accurate, (For instance, Australia and South Africa weren’t republics in 1936, but will be without TFV).
While I made many of the icflagsmod flags myself using GIMP, Some you may recognise as real flags, historical flags or recently proposed but rejected flags. RIP New Zealand. :,-(
The independent communist flags for the UK, the Raj, New Zealand and Canada were kindly provided by the fabulous StanOnWheels, and if you only want his flags they can be found here.
You may notice that I’ve just updated the mod. I’ve changed the supported version to 1.5.4, because I know how annoying that "outdated mods enabled" warning can be. Sorry it took me so long.
So far I’ve included new flags for:
- Australia (as a republic, ie. independent)
- British Malaya (as a subject state of fascist or democratic Australia)
- British Raj/India (will now have independent flag when non-aligned if independent)
- Dutch East Indies (as a subject state of fascist or democratic Australia)
- Japan (as a subject state of the UK or communist Australia, since both these countries can get a puppet focus on Japan)
- New Zealand (as a republic and as a subject of communist Australia)
- South Africa (as a republic, and as non-aligned)
- Angola, Botswana, Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Liberia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe (as subjects of communist South Africa)
- Belgium, Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Russia and Sweden (as subjects of democratic United Kingdom)
- Belgium, Belarus, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Greece, Kenya, Latvia, Libya, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Turkey, Yugoslavia and Zimbabwe (as subjects of the fascist German Reich)
And new-and-improved country names for:
- Australia (Commonwealth of Australia)
- South Africa (Union of South Africa, after I’d done some reading up on their history)
- Germany (Just for historical accuracy, renamed "German Republic" and "West Germany" to "Federal Republic of Germany," while "Socialist Republic of Germany" and "East Germany" are now "German Democratic Republic." The reason for this is that that is what the country called itself under those governments. Also rebalanced their ideology to fit more with that of the March 1933 election, though I combined the democratic parties uder Zentrum.)
- Any new subject/independent nation
Note that the Communist Commonwealth Flags included in this mod work with British Raj, (independent) Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom itself.
While this mod does aim to be comprehensive and extensive, so far it only really covers the Pacific and Africa, as well as subjects of the UK as comprehensively as I’d like, and is therefore a WIP. I’m planning on expanding on likely American, French, Italian, Japanese, Canadian and Indian subjects (essentially this means countries affected by "puppet" war aims)
This mod, due to messing with some focus trees and cosmetic tags meddles with the checksum like a little cheeky bugger. Essentially this means you won’t be getting any achievements while using it, and if you plan on playing multiplayer games, the other players will need it too. Additionally, some of the fancy new names won’t work properly with a mod that changes localisation files (basically language mods that mess around with English).
