It is the year 2040. The globe is unrecognisable from what it was 18 years prior.
A Union State monstrosity plagues the map, America has disappeared from global politics, Europeans are divided all on the brink of a dangerous conflict, China dominates the east and the Middle East is split between progressives and more radical alternatives to the left and the right.
The world’s technology is advancing at a rate unforeseeable only 30 years or so prior, with colonies on mars, advanced AI, and robots being used in war. Warfare, politics, and the environment have all seen massive changes.
Seas have risen over one metre and cities like Venice and Rotterdam face extinction. The once united west of the EU and NATO is carved into several spheres of influence and the world moves further away every day from democracy and sanity.
