Background Lore of Malaysia
Malaysia was once a major player in the South East Pacific as an economic trading giant until the Portuguese and British arrived to colonise. Even now, modern Malaysia holds the key to the wealth the Malacca Straits brings to everyone. Malaysia during WW2 was occupied by the Japanese for three years. Guerilla warfare was fought in the jungles on both the peninsula and North Borneo and would continue until liberation by Allied troops. Malaysia would soon gain its independence in 1957 due to high demands for independence.
What is this mod about?
This mod will try to bring an interesting twist in Hearts of Iron 4 where the path of independence has multiple endings and determines what faction holds power. Inspiration was taken from the Malayan Emergency since the Chinese and Indian communities in Malaysia were powerful groups in the Malayan Peninsula. The main focus of the mod is the outcome of the independence reforms and then into a Civil War. There are three unique civil wars:
- Communist Revolution (Similar to what happened in the Malaya Emergency)
- The Malaysian Civil War (Chinese Confederates vs Malayan Unionists)
- The Sultan’s Coup (The Sultan of Johor launches a coup to prevent communists from entering government)

This mod is a demo due to the lack of a full team as it is just two members at the moment who worked on this. The main idea is to have a strong start on the mod, and hopefully, build a team to push out interesting content after the Civil War.
