Fourteen years have passed since the apocalyptic War of Annihilation. And yet, despite experiencing the greatest loss of life since the Calamity, Southern bellicosity remains unquenched. A second great conflict is brewing on Dixie’s horizon – one that would irrevocably seal her destiny.
A Broken World is set 250 years after the collapse of modern civilization, as a result of a series of natural and human disasters during the early 21st century. Akin to the Fall of Rome, the Calamity decimated the global population and regressed technological knowledge to pre-industrial levels.
In the era of the 2200s, the world has recovered significantly since the onset of the Calamity. However, progress continues to be tempered with violence. The American South would, due to longstanding racial tensions, be embroiled in the horrific War of Annihilation, resulting in millions dead and economic devastation.
A Texan-dominated South has since emerged, but her grip on power remains tenuous. Can the other nations rally to save their heritage in time, or will they be blinded by the light of the Lone Star?
To the west of the Pearl River lies the dominion of the Texan Federation. The War of Annihilation served as a baptism of fire for the nascent state, with her swift response cementing Texas as a great power. The Federation now looks east to bring the rest of Dixie to heel, but, in doing so, she shall face the strongest resistance to date.
In the past, the State of Florida remained distant from Southern politics, but the advances of Texas may no longer be ignored. As the only strong democracy in the South, Florida must take a stand against tyranny and oppression, even if it requires using any means necessary.
