Better Mechanics : Devastation Overhaul

This mod is intended to provide a challenging and immersive gameplay experience by simulating the effects of wartime devastation. It does not glorify or trivialize real-world conflicts and their consequences. I want to mention that this mod does NOT include specific war crimes decisions or anything in that direction. We should respect the fallen of war, both soldiers and non-combatants.

This mod transforms the landscape of war by introducing the concept of Devastation, a value representing the physical and societal destruction within each state. As conflict ravages territories, the devastation accumulates, impacting local resources, infrastructure, and the overall ability to sustain war efforts. You can find the full info and detailed values here[docs.google.com].

Each state can now experience up to 100% devastation, visibly represented in the State GUI. As devastation rises, the following aspects diminish significantly:
– Local Supplies
– Factories
– Resources
– Construction Speed
– Repair Capabilities
This score aggregates the devastation across your nation, influencing:
– Stability
– War Support
– Construction Speed
As states become increasingly devastated, factories may automatically be displaced to less affected areas within the neighboring area. This adds a dynamic layer of strategy, forcing you to adapt to shifting industrial centers while balancing the needs of the frontlines and the home front.
You’ll now have the opportunity to make critical repair decisions that affect the recovery of your nation. Whether restoring essential infrastructure, rebuilding factories, or providing relief to war-torn countries, these decisions are vital to your long-term success. The repair process is lengthy, requiring careful allocation of resources and strategic foresight to rebuild your nation.
Non-combatant populations react to devastation by migrating to safer regions, adding a new layer of complexity to managing occupied territories and frontlines.
The mod integrates a realistic approach to non-combatant casualties, reflecting the human cost of warfare. Also integrated the Real Casualties mod to make the life of each of your soldiers count and their loss to be meaningful
Rebuilding after battles now takes significantly longer, forcing you to make strategic decisions about where to allocate your resources.
Nukes have become more terrifying, inflicting massive devastation instantly and potentially obliterating entire buildings permanently.

Honestly, I can’t find a reason why it wouldn’t be compatible with any other mod unless they add their own refugee/decimation mechanics system like the Old World Blues mod. Even then, it should be compatible with most, if not every, mod.

I’m centralizing everything for my mod collection on a new Discord server. I’ll rarely respond to comments, bug reports, or suggestions here. Please use the Discord Server[discord.gg] for all future requests.
