Description:
UPDATED

for 1.5.3 – Waking the Tiger Compatible – see patch notes for details.

Version: 4.7

All nations have been updated for custom sprites and additional equipment. This is the final version for the armor tech tree.

Added operations for Germans vs Soviets (Barborossa, Fall Blau, Kursk, Defense of Moscow etc) that provide buffs or nerfs to the respective nation

German SS recruitment events added, with a progression system. (Template spam is a known issue, and is a result of the reorganization system).

Added motorized artillery, anti-tank, and anti-air units

AI improvements, especially with Soviets and Germany

DLC Notice

This mod should be fully compatible without DLC, but I highly encourage DoD simply for the unit conversions. This feature very nicely accomodates the added armor. WtT vanilla SS events are fully supported

Features

Starting with an armor overhaul, all of the major nations (the big 7) have received customized armor / vehicle tech trees and units. Each tank is 100% unique and a Panzer IV no longer has the same stats as a T-34!

The AI will fully research and recruit the custom units and tech. Screenshots above are me observing the AI!

This mod is largely historically based, so not everything is balanced, as war is not balanced. However some concessions must be made. For example, Italian tanks were cheaply made, but they were not mass produced; therefore; I couldn’t use the historical production numbers and made them more realistic for what the tanks were.

The early war has been tweaked, armor is what it was – weak. With thin armor and small guns, tanks were largely infantry support vehicles in the early war. There is a clear progression in the development of armor.

Heavy tanks are what they should be – expensive and immensely powerful. In Vanilla, heavy tanks were not worth producing because they costed too much and medium tanks were simply so much better. Heavy tanks are now worth their cost.

The United States has received an amphibious assault vehicle class, to give you some armor to storm the beaches with your marines (Note this is unique to the US).

Germany’s armor is historically weak with respect to the Panzer II and early Panzer IIIs and IVs. Allied armor is superior to German armor in the early war, and then Germany catches up. The T-34 is vastly superior to the early Panzer III and Panzer IV. A lot of equipment is reactionary, ie. the T-34 in 1941 is superior to the Panzer III and IV, and then in 1942 the Panzer III and IV have an edge over the T-34, etc. Researching, producing, and recruiting a single armor type for Germany will not work.

Armor production values are based on historical data – exception being Italy. Due to quality of the tanks, they be very easy to produce, however; Italy had limited industrial output. France’s ficitious armor must also be taken with a grain of salt because France did not make it the end of the war. Creative liberty had to be taken. Suggestions are welcome if you’d like to see a change.

F.A.Q.

Q. Tech tree closes as soon as I try to open it
A. Mod incompatibility

Q. Why can I produce so many T-34s and Shermans?
A. Using wikipedia for tank production / year, I divided the total armor production for that year by 365 to get armor / day and then made that value accordingly for in game.

Q. Why does ____ cost so much?
A. This is a non mass production model of the vehicle. Ex: Pz III and IV first tier cost upwards of 100 to ensure that you do not mass produce these tanks before the invasion of Poland and use Panzer IIs, as this is what was historical.

Q. German mod NF trees don’t work?
A. I had to edit the vanilla German NF tree to get the armor bonuses to work for the German Soviet Treaty. In order to play with the NF mod (which may break armor bonuses) here you go: Navigate to C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent
Find the HoI content folder, go to the mod’s steam workshop page, right click, copy the link, paste it in a browser find the id= _________. Keep that number, then find that number under the directory above, click on the folder, unzip the files, open descriptor.mod, add a "!" (without quotes) to the name="___", rezip the file.
