HOI4+War Fatigue Surrender
HOI4: War Fatigue & Surrender (Plus+)
(<Inspired by "HOI4+: Conditional Surrender" by PaltryOrphan96 β rebuilt & expanded>)
Legacy mod here
This mod drastically changes AI diplomacy and the logic of war. Wars now cause real economic devastation and political instability. If you want pseudo-realism, deep economic mechanics, and painβthis is for you.
Status: Work in progress.

1. π Shadow Economy 5.0
- Stances: From Investment Haven to Total Exhaustion. Peace yields huge PP/investment buffs. Staying on War Eco in peacetime causes Economic Overheating.
- Retooling Shocks: Changing laws causes temporary "Industrial Paralysis".
- Quality vs Quantity: Mass production kills equipment reliability.
2. π Manpower Strain
High casualties + huge armies collapse your labor market. "Scraping the Barrel" drains factories and crushes construction speed.
3. π³οΈ Advanced Diplomacy
- Honorable Submission: Losing? Become a "Privileged Subject" puppet to save your army.
- Fight for Survival: If surrender is refused, gain massive last-stand buffs.
- Separate Peace & Demands: Leave factions for separate peace deals, or use diplomatic weight to demand core territories without war.
- Leader Psychology: AI peace acceptance is tied to traits (Fanatic, Defeatist, Resilient).
4. π Synergy Crises
Low Stability/War Support triggers coupled disasters (e.g., Army Disintegration + Homefront Collapse). Ignore them, and face a Military Coup or civil war. Use Crisis Management decrees to survive.
5. βοΈ Combat Realism & Long Wars
- Panic Retreat: Losing major VPs tanks army organization.
- Officer Chaos: Over-expanding your army causes massive planning penalties.
- War Inflation: Long wars devalue currency and halt civilian construction.
- General Casualties: Commanders can die in massive battles.
- Puppet Fate: If an overlord capitulates, subjects must submit to the victors or fight for independence.
Easy Mode: Arcade Mode vs Realistic Suffering (Note: Arcade is currently WIP/Testing, so temporarily there is no difference).
Compatibility: Best with Vanilla. No Ironman.
