The Fire Rises: The Middle East Expansion

Have you ever felt that the Middle East in TFR is a bit bland? Do you think it’s strange that Iran doesn’t get nukes, or that the Samson option deploys a couple nukes? Do you think the post-2EW NATO victory could do with some brushing up? If the answer is yes to all of the above, then you’ve come to the right place.
To put it succinctly, this mod greatly expands the skeleton content for the Middle East in TFR through a combination of recycled content laying dormant in TFR’s files to whole, brand new content made by hand. While this mod initially started out as a way to flesh out the Samson option in TFR, it gradually expanded into a full Middle Eastern overhaul. Here’s a full list of what this mod does:
- If Israel deploys the Samson option, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan will fall into civil wars with fully localized news events for the start and victory of each side in each civil war.
- Rojava has been replaced in the second Syrian civil war with a resurgent ISIS. Should they win, they will invade Iraq and Lebanon provided they are independent.
- The Egyptian civil war, whether started by the Samson option or the Nile War stalemate, now results in every nation getting a spirit to reflect the blockage of the Suez canal, which is removed upon the victory of the Muslim Brotherhood or central government.
- If the Egyptian civil war already began before the Arab-Israeli war and Israel deployed the Samson option, Egypt won’t fall into a civil war and thus the canal won’t get blocked!
- The Jordanian civil war results in the Islamic Action Front rising up against the Hashemites, and if they win they will rejoin the Arab League.
- If the Iraqi Ba’athists won their civil war and survived against Iran, they can form the United Arab Republic if they hold Syria with a fully localized news event. The only way this happens is if ISIS wins the second Syrian civil war! If the other Iraqi tags or Kurdistan hold Syria, they will simply release it.
- Iran now has 200 days to take out Iraq if they intervene in the civil war or invade a Sadrist/Ba’athist Iraq, should the timer run out they will white peace.
- The Samson option’s devastative effect has been greatly expanded, with many more cities throughout the Middle East getting nuked, and with additional targets should certain countries win in proxy wars prior the Arab-Israeli war. For example, if Hezbollah al-Hejaz won the Saudi civil war, much of Saudi Arabia will be nuked instead of just Mecca and Medina,
- Most Muslim majority countries now get a national idea that reflects the state of Islam after the nuking of Mecca, granting a debuff to attack, defense, division organization, and societal progress. This includes Malaya and Indonesia, so this gives an incentive to the PRC and Japan to intervene in the Middle East to weaken the PDTO/EADI or prevent their own members from being debuffed!
- Russia now gets an event in late 2020-early 2021 which lets them construct a Syrian Iron Dome through a series of decisions, if Israel deploys the Samson option it will fail and you will get a brand custom news event reflecting this!
- Muhammad bin Salman and the Saudi princes now reform the Peninsula Shield Force if they won the Saudi civil war, giving them and the Gulf States the "Petro Dollar" national idea buff. The Arabian Republic can also get this buff but they won’t reform the PSF. If Ba’athist Iraq wins the Iraqi civil war, Kuwait will be kicked out of the PSF so that Iraq can invade them. Also rewrote the news event for the Royal Coalition’s victory.
- If Israel won the Arab-Israeli war, the second Syrian civil war news event and the reunification events for all of the contenders will reflect the Israeli victory.
- Various countries around the Middle East will support their respective sides in the Jordanian, Egyptian, and second Syrian civil wars through volunteers. For example, a Jihadist Jolani will support the Islamists in Jordan and Egypt if he wins the second Syrian civil war, but a moderate Jolani will support the Hashemites and the Egyptian central government. You will be surprised at how different the volunteer lineup can look depending on how earlier Middle Eastern proxies went in your run!
- In certain runs, you will get a news event that an unknown nation has acquired nuclear weapons, this nation be able to use them in a certain scenario which will result in a news event. Play the mod to find out which nation it is!
- Should Germany invade Iran after they win in the First European War, Iran will be able to be able to deploy its nuclear weapons against Turkey, areas controlled by NATO, and Israel and the Arabian Republic if they exist with a fully custom news event to go with it!
- A victorious 1EW Germany can now expand NATO and the EU into the Balkans (Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Macedonia) if they take out Serbia and choose to stabilize the NATO administrations. Albania will annex Kosovo and gain cores on it once they join the EU.
- Germany can now stabilize the Serbian NATO mandate, resulting in them getting a brand new flag and name, and letting Germany invite them into the EU. Germany can also stabilize the Syrian mandate now, giving them the IRL Syrian flag.
- If Germany chose the focus which lets you stabilize the NATO administrations and won the 2EW, you can get the Moscow mandate to invade the Russian warlord states up to the Urals. The decision for this also results in the Volga anti-terrorist operation zone, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the NATO naval administrations in Arctic Russia joining NATO, while also inducting Kuban and the North Caucausian Republic into the EU.
- If Germany stabilizes the NATO administration for Persia, they will have the option to reinstate Reza Pahlavi as king, with his ideology being absolute monarchy, anocracy, or neoconservatism depending on the Germany’s choice.
I have extensively tested this mod to ensure it’s stable and that it accounts for every path in TFR like certain events happening before others like the Egyptian civil war before the Arab-Israeli war., but there are some things that I just can’t account for. The only example I can think of is since ISIS is a scrapped tagged, it’s likely their existence will prevent the Cognoscienti and interventionist Germany from taking over Iraq and Syria respectively. Same goes for fascist France during the 2EW. If you are going to play those paths, you should likely turn this mod off or at the very least, use console commands to ensure ISIS doesn’t win.
Compatibility
This mod changes very little in terms of base TFR files, so it should be compatible with most mods and remain up to date with TFR regardless of updates. The only exception I can think of is if the TFR team updates the Israeli content, the Egyptian civil war, or the second Syrian civil war.
