The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the greatest dream of the Chinese people since modern times, and it runs through the century-long theme of the Party’s struggles.
The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the greatest dream of the Chinese people since modern times, aiming for national prosperity, ethnic revival, and the happiness of the people. Today, we are closer than ever, with more confidence and capability to achieve the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation than at any point in history.
Since 1949, and even since 1921, the Communist Party of China has united and led the people to complete the socialist revolution, establish the basic socialist system, promote socialist construction, and achieved the most extensive and profound social transformation in Chinese history, laying the fundamental political premise and institutional foundation for all development and progress in contemporary China. This has allowed the Chinese nation to fundamentally reverse its fate, from a period of continuous decline to a sustained leap toward prosperity and strength. The Party has united and led the people in a new great revolution of reform and opening up, breaking all ideological and institutional barriers that hinder national and ethnic development, and opening the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, enabling China to catch up with the times in great strides.
More than two thousand years ago, the birth of Jesus marked a new beginning for humanity. As history flows unceasingly, the clock struck the first day of the new millennium. At this time, in the East, in China, President Jiang Zemin’s second term entered its third year. People were still immersed in the excitement of Hong Kong and Macau’s reunification, and China was enjoying peace across the four seas. However, the world situation was changing rapidly, and the century-long shifts in the global landscape were accelerating. The international environment was undergoing profound changes, and we still faced many risks and challenges on our road forward. The Communist Party of China adheres to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of the "Three Represents," the Scientific Outlook on Development, and fully implements Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, advancing the construction of a strong nation and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
To realize the great dream, we must engage in great struggles. The entire Party must be more consciously committed to upholding the Party’s leadership and our socialist system, resolutely opposing any actions or words that weaken, distort, or deny the Party’s leadership and our socialist system. We must be more conscious of safeguarding the interests of the people, resolutely opposing any actions that harm people’s interests or alienate them from the masses. We must also consciously engage in reform and innovation, resolutely breaking through all entrenched problems. Furthermore, we must protect our sovereignty, security, and development interests, resolutely opposing any actions that split the country, destroy ethnic unity, or disrupt social harmony and stability. We must be more conscious of guarding against all risks and overcoming all difficulties and challenges that arise in politics, economics, culture, society, and the natural world. The Party must fully understand the long-term, complex, and arduous nature of this great struggle, develop a spirit of struggle, improve our ability to fight, and continuously win new victories in this great struggle.
