Description:
Reworked Air Designer: Expanded Graphics

This is technically a fork of a submod of a Choo Choo’s fork of the original Reworked Air Designer by Freezer that is compatible with R56, R56 Expanded and R56 Expanded + Vanilla Navy Rework. It is a standalone mod, do not try to use it alongside any other "Reworked Air Designers"

Developer’s notes

For whatever reason pre-existing CAS and naval bomber designs appear to have no role when editing them. This has no impact on gameplay (I think?) and appears to be just a visual bug that is probably caused by the fact that R56 changes some fundamental stuff about airframes. Designing airplanes from the ground-up or editing your own designs causes no such issues.

Features

Apart from all the changes added in the original Reworked Air Designer, some numbers have been tweaked, more specifically:

  • High Octane Fuel now costs 0 IC to produce, but makes planes burn even more fuel and requires 15 XP to add.
  • Drop tanks now weigh less and give agility to somewhat balance the increase in weight (since they are supposed to be, you know, dropped before entering combat), but now require slightly more fuel to operate
  • Equipment slot dedicated to wing-carried drop tanks now allows a single central drop tank as well
  • Central drop tanks now give 75% of the wing drop tanks, with their price and weight adjusted accordingly since those often were larger than wing-carried drop tanks
  • Equipment slot dedicated to defensive turrets on small airframes now allows small modules as well

Planned Features

I am planning to do at least a couple more things besides supporting the mod as updates come out:

  • Most countries should receive new aircraft sprites, but those probably will be generic versions of the already present allied/axis aircraft. If you know of any interesting combat aircraft that you’d love to see in the mod, please tell me their names and I will try adding those.
  • All fighter weapons will be split into fuselage-mounted and wing-mounted versions, with fuselage-mounted versions providing slightly more air attack and, in case of canons, a smaller agility penalty. Each plane will be able to have no more than two fuselage-mounted weapons.
  • Medium naval bombers will probably receive different blueprints in the aircraft designer as I find it stupid that all of them appear as flying boats.

Compatibility matters

The mod should be fully compatible with R56 and R56 expanded, Vanilla Navy Rework and my R56 version of the "Expanded Tank Designer – Even More Fixed!+" (these names are honestly getting ridiculous). It should theoretically be compatible with anything else that works with R56. If you try to launch this mod with some other mod and experience a crash when starting a new game, please tell me the name of that mod in the comments and I will try to make those two compatible.

Credits

This mod obviously uses the wonderful "Reworked Air Designer" by Freezer and also takes some of the added plane sprites from the wonderful mod called Black Ice. None of those explicitly prohibit using parts of their mods on their modpages, but if either Freezer or the BICE team want me to remove some parts/the entire mod from the workshop, I will do that.
