There once was a time when Europe was whole. United in goals, purpose, ideals… a utopia built to move past the centuries of war and strife. A utopia that at the time seemed like it would never, or could never, end. But nothing lasts forever. Through crisis after crisis, the European Project started to crumble under the weight of its own ambition. Resource shortages, overcomplicated bureaucracy, the disjointed nature of its constituent parts… All of these prevented our utopia from living on. A failed war, ended through a lethal set of nuclear exchanges, finally brought the Commonwealth to its knees, shattering the continent into hundreds of warring factions all clamoring for control. For years, Europe remained a shattered husk, with no hope of ever coming together again. Then one morning in the year 2077, everything changed. The remaining superpowers, unable to restrain themselves, launched full nuclear attacks across the globe. Nuclear hellfire burned the globe, cleansing all in its bright glow… though this would be the end of our species. Far from it, in fact. We would not be having this conversation if it died that day, would we? Now, back to Europe…

Centuries since the world burned itself down through nuclear hellfire, the shattered pieces of what used to be Germany fight bitterly over the remaining scraps of what little remains of a bygone generation. Some look back… some look forward. Some seek to maintain their power, while others seek to destroy it. Now what is going on in Germany specifically, you may ask? Well, let me tell you, because of all the shattered lands of Europe, Germany stands as the clearest monument to the failures of the Old World.

In the East, the mighty Red Bear has stumbled, letting sunlight pierce through its long shadow. The Bear fights desperately to restore its place as the hegemon of Central Europe, while those who put up with it for so long seek to rid it from this reality and establish their own control instead. All those watching know it will be a long time before the true winners of this contest are decided…

In the West, the sick Rhine Confederation continues to limp while the Young Saar Duke plans to seize the moment by slaying the corrupt oligarchs and restoring his family’s legacy. He might even have grander ambitions, though for now those lay within his mind. Playing your hand too early might cost you everything after all…

Between these two beacons of civilized society lay the cold, heartless wasteland home to raiders and beasts beyond human understanding. Watch your step, or you could become just another lost soul trapped in the Deathstrip…

Will you be a champion for civilization? Will you bring your ideals to greatness or let them smolder in the womb? Will you burn what is left of the world to the ground, and then use its ashes to build something far greater than anyone else can understand?

Welcome to Europe. Please, enjoy your stay. The choice is yours in the end, but I think you will stay. You came here for a reason; I can feel it. You came for War… and War… War never changes.
