Description:
Greater Thailand

A submod for Millennium Dawn: Modern Day Mod that finally gives Thailand the focus tree it deserves. You start in 2000 with Chuan Leekpai in power and historically Thaksin is going to win the 2001 landslide. You can follow history or go down another timeline of your choice. Based on the modern Thai story with political fracture and actual + alt history military paths, all built into a complex focus tree.

Requires Millennium Dawn. It should be compatible with most mods that don’t change Thailand’s focus trees, events, and ideas. If you don’t like the bookmark, it can be removed in a future update.

Tested for 1.17* versions.

What you get
  • A roughly 250 focus national tree with a shared economic and diplomatic trunk (Tom Yum Kung recovery, IMF repayment, tourism, the Detroit of Asia auto boom, the Thailand 4.0 and Eastern Economic Corridor build out, private sector national champions like PTT, SCG and CP Group, a science and R&D network, and constant hedging between Washington and Beijing) feeding four political paths gated by the 2001 election.
  • Around 250 events covering coups, court dissolutions, red and yellow street politics, the 2004 tsunami, the 2011 floods, rice pledging, the 2016 royal succession (handled factually and with respect), Preah Vihear flare ups and more.
  • Around 180 national spirits and ideas, including tiered idea families and a live coup risk system that escalates from quiet rumblings all the way to tanks on the streets if you let the generals get restless.
  • A Deep South insurgency system with suppression, development and dialogue tracks.
  • The Kra Canal saga, the megaproject that could reroute world shipping, as a full decision chain.
  • Eight Thai military industrial organizations, from Defence Technology Institute and Chaiseri to Panus, Bangkok Dock, Marsun, Thai Aviation Industries, DID and RV Connex.
  • New characters that weren’t in the original Millennium Dawn main mod.
  • Major overhaul of the military tree, where you are given the choice to partner or specialize with western, eastern, or your own defence industry, plus a COIN and joint doctrine spine and even a nuclear programme line.
  • Focus choice for ASEAN, to unite as a defence faction, or to divide and conquer as the ASEAN hegemon.

The four paths
  • Thaksinist Populism. Thaksinomics, 30 baht healthcare, the village funds, OTOP, the war on drugs, and a fork between consolidating democracy and drifting into a single party machine.
  • Royalist Establishment. Network monarchy, the yellow shirts, the 2006 and 2014 coups, the 2017 constitution, and a capstone choice between permanent guardianship and royal restoration.
  • Reform Wave. Future Forward, the Three Demands, Section 112 reform, decentralization, breaking the monopolies, ending in consolidated democracy or a very ahistorical republic.
  • Greater Thailand. The Phibunist dream. Reclaim the lost territories in Cambodia, Laos, northern Malaysia and Shan State, integrate them through gated coring decisions, and rearm for it. Locked off if you walk the Reform path.

Notes

The submod is still in early development so there may be balance issues or bugs. All events depicted are not political commentary and try to stay as unbiased as possible.
