Description:

Replaces the game’s veterancy icons with rank insignia of the army of the Qing dynasty.

This is a bit of a special one. To my surprise, the Qing dynasty used rank insignia, and (less to my surprise) in quite a different fashion to how they were used in Europe. Instead of having the rank insignia on the shoulder or collar, in the Qing dynasty (and the Ming dynasty as well), the rank was signified by an eleborate embroidery with a certain (mythical) animal attached to the front and back of ones clothes. Every rank had its own animal, and what animal was used also depended on whether it was a military or a civilian rank.

There were nine military ranks, listed as numbers (with the used animal next to it):

1 Qilin (a mythical hooved animal)
2 Lion
3 Leopard
4 Tiger
5 Bear
6 Panther
7 Rhinoceros
8 Rhinoceros
9 Sea horse (doesn’t appear to be a seahorse)

I didn’t think it would be at all doable to make such eleborate designs into rank insignia for HOI IV. When only using (a part of) the animal, however, the result is quite nice.

For the veterancy icons I used the following ranks (I’ve included a link of my source material):

Rank 1 (Qilin): https://images.metmuseum.org/CRDImages/as/original/DP227291.jpg
Rank 2 (Lion): http://c8.alamy.com/comp/KCD6W0/rank-badge-with-lion-ming-dynasty-13681644-15th-century-china-silk-KCD6W0.jpg
