Dutch songs
Songs for the Netherlands.
Stand-alone mod that is ment to go with the Dutch Reworked mod.
Can be used for just the music only.
Song will play when you play as the Netherlands.
Time to get into the grove with the Dutch and get some historical music performed by Dutch artists before and during WW2.
The songs added are mostlikely not the last to reach this mod.
How-ever due to the problem of getting original recordings, or rely on Army bands playing the Marches, not all songs are easily obtainable.
Even more so, when we take into acount that most songs, artists, and records(wax-discs) where destroyed during the war.
And not all songs will apeal to the Modern day Dutch Person, so there is little chance of seeing the songs being revived.
This unfortunally also means that the recording that i could get my hands on, are geniun recordings of the time (1939/1945).
And recording methods where not the best then, so some songs may have a little distortion, others might jump a bit in volume(softer, then louders, then softer, then normal again).
There is nothing i can do about this, this is what we need to work with. Hopefully i have converted them good enough and limit them enough for them to not become annoying with the distortion and volume jumping.
In advance appologize to the non Dutch speakers that use this mod.
But in the songs(Especially the Entertainment songs) the artists perform in Dutch. It is very rare to find a recording with English voice on it by a Dutch person pre 1955.
The marches, and the Anthem i selected are word free, so you don’t have to listen to a language you don’t understand, Excluding; "Merck toch hoe streck – Bergen op Zoom – 1626" which is a Geuzenlied. A song that played some importance for soldiers out of the region of Bergen op Zoom. there are words to this song, but they are 1. in Old Dutch. 2. In Dialect of the area. 3. Use phrases from the 80year wars. so don’t feel bad. i have a feeling most of the Dutch people will have a hard time understanding that song as well 😉
The last 2 songs on these lists are perhaps a little out of place. but the 2 songs in question are played by the "Koninklijke Militaire Kapel Johan Willem Friso" And incorporate Dutch marches and songs of WW2.
But because these songs where played after 2000. They did incorporate a more modern style, and Muskischau der Nationen even includes a modern song, played in old fashion style(jan smit – boom boom bailando).
The sad part is, of the orginal songs, there is no mention in history, no recordings, no testemonies on how they should be performed. and to my knowledge this is the only recording ever made of these "Defilee" songs, which is why did include them into the mod.
Who might see this list and gringe a little at the title of "Hand in Hand kameraden" i’m sorry, get over it…i know this is now a song adopted by Feyenoord, your soul rivals in soccer. But the origens of this song lay in the Army, it is a song of unity between "Het veld-Leger and the KNIL’ As well as for soldiers to trust in there comrads.
That it just so happens to be that a Soccer team(or rather its fans) decided to adopt this song i can’t help. But i do understand that for some it is un-acceptable(die hard fans). for this reason i picked the instrumental version of the song, not the vocal version. and it a version performed by the Band of the Huzaren van Boreel, in 1934. Long before Feyenoord even adopted the song. Hopefully that will ease the insult to injury feeling.
