Description:

What it says on the tin, really.

The aim is to make nukes more powerful but also gear them more towards their historical role, instead of the front line nuke spamming you get at the moment.

Increases the effect of nukes so that they basically delete infantry divisions and damage state population, in addition to reducing infrastructure to zero. This is to disincentivise front-line nuking as pushing into 0 infrastructure is not a good time. It’s not hugely realistic and serves more of a mechanical purpose, although you could argue that it represents the effects of radiation and the general chaos a nuke causes in an area.

It also makes it so no matter where in a country you nuke there is a flat -20% to war support and a -5% to stability (per nuke), when you’re first nuked you also gain a national spirit that gives -10% stability and -30% war support. This is all on top of whatever small reduction in war support you get from the base Hoi4 system (which is based on victory points).

In addition to this I’ve added a decision available to every nuke recipient that represents you churning out propaganda to build a national resilience to nuclear strikes, it takes about half a year and costs 100 PP. It will remove the national spirit you got from being nuked (and prevent you from ever getting it again) as well as remove the added war support cost from getting nuked. In fact it adds a +5% war support increase for getting nuked as your propagandists turn the anger at this national tragedy against the enemy, you still get the base game war support penalty so getting nuked in your capital will still hurt your war support. This decision does not remove the stability hit you get from being nuked either. Nuclear weapons tend to cause a fair bit of disruption after all.
