Nikolai Ivanovitch Achinov came up with a bizarre plan to create a Russian territory in what is now Djibouti.He and a big group of Cossacks raised their flag above the village of Sagallo.They occupied entire Djibouti.When France wanted to regain the colony,Russia was ready for war and France gave up.After the civil war and the fall of the empire, many politicians,civilians, soldiers and generals fled to Djibouti,declaring an independent state. Now the Cossacks are the majority in Djibouti.
