Description:

This mod is aimed at giving Tank Designer more realistic feel, at least what I consider realistic. I do not plan to add a milion new modules, as there needs to be some abstraction built into the system. For example, we may split light_cannon_2 into 37mm, 47-50mm and 57mm gun and give each slightly different stats… But would it be any different in grand strategy game?

If there will be enough people who like more modules though, I’ll make a second version!

Main changes:

– each armored battalion now consist of 45 vehicles and have combat width of 2

-major changes to modules – cost and stats. Especially guns were changed. They now require the same resources as respective towed guns.

-fixed superstructure split into open topped, like Wespe or Sexton (super cheap, but at the cost of stats) and casemate like Stug, Jagdpanther or ISU152 (cheaper than turret and with better defense)

-Basic heavy cannon is CS gun in all but a name. That is not a bug. Real early heavy tanks used guns that can be portrayed in game by either CS guns or Medium cannon. I thought about removing basic heavy cannon, but finally kept it, as proper guns are locked behind tech for some nations and to not mess with AI designs.

-AA guns have the same stats as respective autocannon, but are twice the cost, also their AA values are reduced by 20%. This missing 20% is added as bonus to open top superstructure.

-It is no longer possible to add light turrets to heavy and medium tanks. I’m considering leaving each chassis only with dedicated turrets

-historical variants remade to better represent reality for majors, Poland and Czechoslovakia. If I missed any country with variants, please point me to them.

– new OOB for Poland adding missing tanks. I added them as units (tank regiments) as this method allow adding specific variants, including foreign ones.

To do:
There are many ways people find to exploit the designer – please post info about especially outrageous combinations of modules so I can balance them.
I am also considerng other modules that may be useful.

PS. While I am making small personal mods for Paradox games since HoI2 at least, this is the first time I decided to publish one of them 🙂
