Fleet Rebalance
This mod attempts to address some of the weird balance choices made by Paradox in terms of hull technology and the representation of the great power’s fleets circa 1936. The balance is meant to be more "historical" without over complicating the naval aspect of the game and keeping it within the capabilities of the current ai.
It remains largely vanilla except for several large changes:
Hull technologies are now 1922-1930-1936-1942 respectively. This is an attempt to mimic the naval treaties and their affect on ship design and restrictions on tonnage etc. Ship design progressed through this period and eventually matured during WWII; a culmination presented as 1942 in this particular mod. Various Ship designs do not always fit perfectly within these categories as they were often incremental in there evolution and eventual result.
This process results many hulls in game either becoming "more advanced" or less as a result. Take for instance the Fubuki class that was significant advance at the time. They have been moved to the 1930 hull instead of 1922 as in vanilla.
Fleets and the designs from the great powers (UK USA Japan Germany France Italy) have been modified as a result of the above changes.
Another significant issue in vanilla is naval speeds, particularly older heavy cruisers such as the county class or fairly advanced Japanese cruisers. I have tried to give many of these ships engines that get them closer to their historical speed. Eg. County Class Vanilla 24 knots increased to 30 knots as a result of this mod.
Example changes:
Fubuki Class: hull II
A/B/C/D & E/F/G/H: hull II
Mogami: now light cruiser II
Arethusa Class: hull II
Many other changes to the fleets of the great powers.
I have updated this mod with the new changes to secondaries and other naval tech that arrived with the new DLC: Blood Alone.
