Over the Horizon: Decade of Socialism
Yuri Andropov’s rule has ushered the Soviet Union into a new era of renewed hope and prosperity. Under his reign, the Soviet Union has transitioned toward the implementation of cybernetic principles into the economy, leading to further economic and technological development, ultimately resulting in developments to computer science that have birthed a global interlinked network of computers, dubbed the "World Wide Web".’
In the wake of the global offensive against democracy in the 1960s, America held on admirably; while preventing a complete takeover of the Indochina, she failed to stop the fall of Korea and the race to the Moon, and unable to stop the red tide from engulfing Indonesia. Under John Glenn’s administration, the United States seeks to maintain cordial relationships with her enemy, while also venturing further into the unknowns of space.
Off-world, American and Soviet holdings lay in orbit in the form of the International Space Port and Mir Space Station, while Zvezda and Plymouth stand on opposite sides of the Shackleton crater on the Moon. Space travel is becoming cheaper, and the incentives to do grow by the day; could space be the new front in the cold war?
