Universal Music Compilation
Universal Music Compilation aims to significantly increase immersion by adding new local tracks to each nation in vanilla Hearts of Iron IV. Inspired by and similar to mods such as the Kaiserreich Music mod, all tracks are weighted both to nation and ideology. Many of the tracks in question are specifically recordings during the Second World War and early Cold War to maintain that vintage style. For tracks in which older vintage recordings couldn’t be found (or simply too distorted), filters have been added to give that similar effect. This took awhile to make, so I hope this significantly adds to your immersion as well as your overall enjoyment of the game!
List of nations which this mod currently covers:
- Germany (50 tracks)
- United Kingdom (40 tracks)
- Soviet Union (40 tracks)

If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave them below! I’ll most certainly consider them in future updates!
Compatibility Note:
While the music will technically play with any mod regardless of how much it overhauls the game, any mods which change base game country tags and/or ideologies as well as some national focuses for specific nations (for example, Communist China has songs specifically tied to Maoism separate from other Communist ideologies and, thus, those songs are not only tied to the nation and ideology, but to the focus "Agrarian Socialism" as well {"The Leadership of Mao Zedong" OR "Mao Zedong Ascends" focuses instead if you have No Compromises, No Surrender installed and active} and only play once that focus is taken and completed). Mods that change national focuses, change and add ideologies or nation tags will probably render the weighting mechanics broken. Thus, during game-play with such mods, it’s guaranteed that you’ll find yourself listening to a mix of a variety of soundtracks that are foreign to the country and ideology you are playing. Mods that also change the music player’s formatting might also be incompatible. For those who lack certain DLC for nations that change their focus trees, this mod’s weighting mechanics account for that as shown through the example given above with Communist China.
This mod is IS achievement compatible and doesn’t change the checksum. Currently, this mod technically only supports English at the moment but will work completely fine in other languages (it might just look a little weird in the music player).
If you like this mod, you should check out my other mod:
- Victorianization – https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3728289771 – a mod that changes and replaces the old Hearts of Iron IV map with a new map reminiscent of Victoria II (which is also shown in the images above).
