It is January 1939. Japan’s government, military, and 125 million citizens have been displaced from 2024 into the opening years of the Second World War.
They remember everything.
You are the Tokyo government of modern Japan. Bullet trains, semiconductor fabs, F-35s, Aegis destroyers, and a pacifist constitution written by people who survived Hiroshima. Except Hiroshima hasn’t happened yet. Neither has anything else.
The Imperial government in Osaka does not recognise you. The great powers of Europe are watching. And the Second World War is three years away.
Your first decision is the most important one: what kind of Japan do you want to be?
- Imperialist Resurgence — Tear up the constitution. Rebuild the empire. Korea, Manchuria, Taiwan, China. History gave Japan a second chance. Do not squander it.
- Democratic Hegemon — Champion the values Japan earned through catastrophe. Arm the Allies, found the Pacific Alliance, and architect the post-war world before the war even ends.
- Fortress Japan — The world is not ready for you. Neither are you ready for it. Fortify the home islands, build the bomb, and let the world burn around you.
- Red Dawn — The workers of Japan will not repeat their fathers’ mistakes. Align with the communist world, arm liberation movements, and build something the 20th century has never seen.
