Ahead of Time Research Boost Decisions
Ahead of Time Research Boost Decisions adds a new player-only decision category that allows you to spend Political Power to buy one-use ahead-of-time research penalty reduction bonuses.
The mod adds a new decision category called "Ahead of Time Research". From there, the player can purchase global ahead-of-time research bonuses before starting a technology.
The AI cannot use these decisions.
Available decisions:
– 1 year ahead-of-time reduction: 150 Political Power
– 2 years ahead-of-time reduction: 300 Political Power
– 3 years ahead-of-time reduction: 600 Political Power
– 4 years ahead-of-time reduction: 1200 Political Power
These bonuses are global-style research bonuses. They are not tied to a single visible technology group such as armor, air, industry or navy. Instead, each decision adds one use of an ahead-of-time research reduction that can be consumed by any eligible technology covered by the mod categories.
Included technology areas:
– Armor and tank technologies
– Air technologies
– Industry, synthetics, fuel and refinery technologies
– Electronics, radar, nuclear and rocketry technologies
– Infantry, support and artillery technologies
– Naval technologies, including ships and modules
– Motorized and mechanized technologies
– Special forces technologies
Doctrine technologies are intentionally not included.
How to use:
1. Open the "Ahead of Time Research" decision category.
2. Choose the ahead-of-time reduction you want.
3. Start researching the technology you want to use the bonus on.
Important:
The bonus is consumed by the next eligible technology you start researching, so activate the decision immediately before selecting the technology you want.
Compatibility:
This mod should be compatible with most other mods, as it only adds a new decision category and new player-only decisions. It does not overwrite vanilla files, national focus trees, technologies, ideas, scripted effects or other core game files.
However, compatibility depends on how heavily another mod reworks technology categories. If a total conversion or major overhaul uses completely custom technology categories, some research bonus decisions may not apply to every intended technology.
The mod should work with vanilla and with most overhaul mods, but category coverage may vary depending on how the other mod defines its technologies.
