Description:

Ireland was teetering on the edge of collapse even before the Stars Fell. It came as a shock to many then, when our island managed to weather the storm and survive total collapse. It wasn’t the war or the end of human civilisation as we know it that caused the Republic to finally cave in. No, it was trade, or the lack of it, roaming clouds of radiation certainly didn’t help either. While Ireland remained self-sufficient in food stuffs, we imported everything else, everything needed for a modern society.

It’s been many decades since the collapse of the First Republic and many more since the resurgent Celts overwhelmed the Second. Now Ireland lays fractured, akin to the days of the High Kings, as Warlords and Chieftains fight over every metre of land still viable for farming.

The remnants of the old Republic cling to life in the peripheries, having been bested in the Celtic War. Their veterans are scattered in isolated pockets all across the island, they maintain direct control over Dublin only. Waterford and Tipperary have remained strong supporters of the Republican Authority, but their loyalty can only last so long.

To the north, the Celts under the ‘Hound of Culainn’ have begun spreading their influence ever further. Champions of the Celtic War and being key in the Battle of Dundalk, the Sons of Culainn as they call themselves, have begun pushing for greater Celtic unity. There is only one way to achieve this in their eyes, to destroy the last remnants of the old world, to put an end to the Republic.

Steam won’t let me talk about the Limerick Soviet update because it blacklists certain words, but it’s out now 🙂

This submod was developed over the course of 5 days in a depression fueled haze. While I was able to get most of what I wanted ready for an initial release, I had to cut short the content for the ‘New Corkonian Republic’ and ‘Celestial Sovereigns’ as real world responsibilities have caught up with me. I was also forced to halt the GFX early and as such much of the ‘Republican Authority’ and all of the ‘Sons of Culainn’ tree are lacking. Though all of the coding is present and both trees are fully playable up to the unification of Ireland. The campaign should take about 3-5 years to complete.

If you or anyone you know are interested in assisting in the development of the mod, I am welcoming all forms of help. In particular I require someone competent at GFX, I can do all of the coding required but making the images themselves takes time that I unfortunately do not have.

While this project IS a solo project, do expect there to be at a minimum, monthly updates with trees every month or at the bare minimum, extra content. I’m especially aiming to inject more of the lore through flavour events over time.
