USA Time Machine 2
If you ever played HOI4 during COVID, you probably remember the U.S.A. Time Machine mod. It was one of my favorite mods of all time, but to this day remains outdated.
And so, I thought of the idea to revamp it in my own style.
The mod puts 2020 America in the 1936 start date, just before the election and while COVID-19 was at its peak.
The mod features a roster of national spirits, custom leader and general portraits, rebalancing of vanilla’s approach to U.S. ideologies, 350+ focuses with various options for "historical" and "non-historical" play.
The mod was designed to fit in with most vanilla playthroughs, though the AI is more inclined to pick the "historical" option in the elections.
I’ve decided to use the base games 4 ideologies to better represent the factions in American politics;
Moderate and Liberal Democrats being Democracy and Communism, and "America First" and "MAGA" being Non-Aligned and Fascism. Most focuses give a small amount of ideological support, which keeps the pie chart relatively 50/50 throughout playthroughs. THIS IS BY DESIGN. You’re not typically supposed to have 80% support for your ruling party because this is not very representative of US politics.
The mod also includes technologies for DLC’s and no-DLC’s, so if you don’t have any you can still play.
I’ll likely make bug fixes and updates every now and then, so if you encounter something lmk

Added descriptions to most of the focuses, finally
Rebalanced a lot of focuses, mostly adjusting the time it takes to complete them especially in Trump’s tree
Added features to Trump’s alt-history paths and Vance’s tree
Expanded a bit on the "Commie Kamala" path after Biden shuts down elections
Added new election events where the player can decide if Trump survives his assassination attempt (Actually works now) (For real this time)
Added more options to the Ask To Join the Comintern path
Added more to the "Communist" branches
Added more election events regarding the 2022/1938 midterms, the 2025/1941 special elections and the 2026/1942 midterms (I just made a prediction regarding the results, feel free to come back and laugh at me if i’m wrong)
The AI is now more likely to rush the Cancel Elections focus if it’s available
Added various more ways to gain Communist support and political power since the gimmick of Kamala and Trump are to have these respectively
Reduced the time for some of Trump’s focuses, since many of them were/are passed in quick succession irl
Nerfed the poliitcal power debuff on the Two Party System from 25% to 20%
Added a guarantee cost so Biden doesn’t guarantee Poland (i want it to be done through focus)
Added a branch for an expansion of violence through Jan. 6th into a Civil War
Added a join Japan branch
Added more events
