Ideological Factions
Are you tired of seeing neutral nations join the Comintern, or historically absurd alliances between democracies and regimes with totally contrasting ideologies? This mod makes faction diplomacy much more realistic by physically blocking alliances between opposite ideologies and heavily discouraging those between different ideologies.
The mod intervenes directly on diplomatic triggers and AI behaviors to create a clear distinction between "Opposite" ideologies (incompatible) and "Different" ideologies (tolerated but with strong friction).
1. Total Block (Opposite Ideologies):
The diplomatic action is disabled at its root. The button will not be clickable and will show a dedicated tooltip.
- Non-Aligned: Opposite to Communists.
- Democrats: Opposite to Communists.
- Fascists: Opposite to Communists.
- Communists: Opposite to Democrats and Fascists.
2. Severe Malus (Different Ideologies):
The action is allowed, but the AI will receive a huge malus to its acceptance score (-100 to -200), almost always refusing the offer unless under exceptional circumstances.
- Non-Aligned: Different from Fascists and Democrats.
- Democrats: Different from Fascists and Non-Aligned.
- Fascists: Different from Democrats and Non-Aligned.
- Communists: Different from Non-Aligned (Communists can invite them, but the Non-Aligned AI will fiercely resist).
- Ironman: NOT achievement compatible, as it alters fundamental AI parameters (Defines) and diplomatic rules (Scripted Triggers).
- Mod Compatibility: Designed to be extremely compatible. It uses separate files and exclusively overwrites the vanilla triggers DIPLOMACY_JOIN_FACTION_ENABLE_TRIGGER and DIPLOMACY_OFFER_JOIN_FACTION_ENABLE_TRIGGER along with some AI parameters, leaving the original base game files intact. Only works with vanilla ideologies (not compatible or useful with Kaiserreich and similar).
