Description:

Updated for v1.14.* via Diff Merge. No anticipated issues. Please let me know if there’s any wonkiness or broken localizations.

– Please note that due to the Armor overhaul by NSB they’ve become chasis rather than fully designed tanks. Your first designed tank will receive the default names offered by this mod, but beyond that armor simply works too differently from the rest of the equipment.

Tired of seeing "Weapon II" "Motorized" or "Fighter III" when playing a minor nation?

This mod assigns better generic names to in-game equipment loosely based on the US military equipment designation system (i.e. M2 Submachine gun instead of Weapon II, A-10 instead of CAS I, etc.)

Additional Notes 1:
IRL WW2 the US military hasn’t fully standardized their naval and air equipment designations and was a mess. For the purpose of this mod, here’s a quick key to explain the designation scheme I used:

P – Interceptors
F – Fighters
A – Assault aircrafts (CAS)
B – Bombers
TB – Torpoedo bombers
X – Experimental craft. (I used this only for rockets)

I recommend adding your own nickname after the model designation when creating variants for additional fun.

Additional Notes 2:
I left the variant upgrade version localization alone, so it remains the default Mk.I, Mk.II, Mk.III etc. IRL US military used a different system between land and air equipment, but the game doesn’t support that as far as I can tell.

If you want to stick to the theme for flavor, I recommend the following when creating variants:
For land equipment, I recommend any time you create a variant, add "A1" "A2" "A3" etc. right after the model number. Ex. If you have an M29 Medium tank, the first variant you create would be M29A1.

However, "T" for the superheavy tank is unique in that its a prototype/test model. Likewise, if you want to experiment with a particular variant instead of committing to mass produce it, the designation for it should be "E1", "E2", "E3", etc.

For air equipment, it was a real mess and different between manufacturers. I recommend going down the alphabet instead of adding additional dashes and numbers. So add "A" "B" "C" "D" etc. for variants.
