Utility version

This map is an utility version. It means that although you can start a game with it, it is not intended to be directly played.
Instead, it is meant to be a clean and solid base for other mods taking place in Europe to use.
The code should be cleaner than Magna Europa’s, and there is no content to remove; making it perfect for other mods to re-use.

Anyone can freely use this mod as a base for their own mods, as long as credits for the map is given.

Q&A

Q: Why not keep developping the old Magna Europa?
A: For two different reasons: Firstly, I was dissatisfied with the map projection, it effectively put Kazakhstan to the North of the map due to deformations, and it just looked weird on the East. Secondly, the old map had a mix of very old 1.0 content, and recent content, and with each Hoi4 updates the mix between old and new content kept getting more and more confusing, to the point that even maintaining old Magna Europa was a nightmare.

Q: Why is there America in the top left corner?
A: The Allies are unable to win without US help, so I added back the US for balance purpose. Although I could keep using Iceland, I prefered not to. I will make an America-less version soon.

Q: X country isn’t legitimate/doesn’t have core/have cores in the wrong places.
A: cores are there for showcasing purposes mostly, and are not an indication on whether a state is legitimate or not. They will be reworked for the playable version to be more era-accurate.

Q: Why no Commonwealth/HRE/etc… ?
A: I can’t add every single nation that existed in Europe, and ultimately, I am only adding nations that existed from 1870 to 2000. Ofc, there are still exceptions, and we are open to suggestions, but don’t come to us to suggest the golden horde or old stuff like that.

Q: Why aren’t there the Donetsk People’s Republic or the Luhansk People’s Republic?
A: It would be very distasteful to add them as the Russian invasion of Ukraine is still ongoing. Do not ask for them, we won’t add them in.

Why aren’t State Transfer Tool/Toolpack/any other mod not working?

Because Magna Europa overwrites some of these mod’s content.

By default, local mods are overwritten by steam mods, which then overwrites each others depending on the release date, newer mod overwrites old mods (if I remember correctly).
Magna Europa Reloaded being the newest mod, it overwrites the other mods. The only way to have utility mod like State Transfer Tool or Toolpack are to include in these mods a dependencies line (

dependencies = { "Magna Europa Reloaded Utility Version" }

) in their descriptor.mod file which will force them to overwrite Magna Europa Reloaded’s content.

Ofc, as you can’t modify steam mod files without steam resetting your changes, you will basically have to make a local copy of the mod with the files & the new descriptor including the dependencies line.

It can be done either by the mod’s author, by anyone making a submod and publishing it, or by yourself; however, I cannot take another’s modder’s work and re-publish it as a submod.
