Ashes of Libertad – Legacy
October 27, 1962.
Deep beneath the waters off the coast of Cuba, the Soviet Foxtrot-class submarine B-59, commanded by Captain Valentín Grigórievich Savitsky, found itself cornered by the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. With communication cut off and under relentless pressure, Savitsky and political officer Ivan Maslennikov made a fateful decision. In a unanimous vote, they authorized the launch of a T-5 nuclear torpedo—igniting what history would come to know as the Third World War, the deadliest conflict humanity ever endured.
What followed was a prolonged, nightmarish descent into global annihilation. The Old World was torn apart by nuclear fire and chaos, its institutions shattered, its cities reduced to ash. Hope itself became a casualty, buried beneath the weight of endless warfare and mass death.
Yet, not all was lost. Amid the ruins, Latin America—long overlooked on the global stage—remained one of the few habitable regions left. In this fractured new era, the region has emerged as a volatile center of power, its nations racked by political instability, guerrilla warfare, and separatist uprisings. Amid the scorched earth and irradiated skies, stories still unfold—of survival, of ambition, of resistance.
The world is broken. The future uncertain. But even in the shadow of nuclear terror, one question remains: is humanity truly doomed… or is there still something worth saving?
