Historical Immersion Overhaul: A CSRZ Submod

First of all, full credit to CSRZ for all his historical mods and giving me the wonderful skeleton to make this mod off of. I would also like to give a word of thanks to the World Ablaze , Hearts of Oak , and Total War teams for amazing mods that inspired me to make this one and gave me the necessary understanding of AI strategy coding to do it.

Credit to the creators of the portraits and image assets I used as well.

UPDATE ALERT!

After all this time, the Pacific War and 2nd Sino Japanese War update is released! V.0.2: RED SUN RAMPANT is out after delay and delay! This includes to put it shortly.

– A massive overhaul of the Pacific, with tons of events, decisions, and AI fixes to make it historical and much more challenging.
– Japanese puppets for the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere and a scripted peace deal for both Allied and Axis victories in the Pacific.
– A massive overhaul of the 2nd Sino Japanese-War. It is now long and painful.
– Tons of new flavor events, cosmetic changes, and re-balances.

Credit is due to the VNR Pacific and Pearl Harbor Event chain overhaul, as well as World Ablaze and Total War for the skeletons of some of the features I implemented here. In the case of VNR, I felt the Pearl Harbor event chain was done so well I simply incorporated it into the mod with some tweaks.

Enjoy, and as this is a first release, expect bugs. Small hot-fixes should come out sooner than later.

WHAT IS THIS MOD?

Historical Immersion Overhaul is an overhaul of vanilla historical Hearts of Iron IV to create a much more difficult, historical and immersive experience. Built off the basic skeleton of CSRZ’s mod, I felt this would work better as a sub-mod to his work than something entirely of its own. Feel free to post suggestions in the comments, use assets from this mod, or make sub-mods for this sub-mod at your own will!

This does not feature new focus trees or a total overhaul of the game; it is very vanilla. The new content and historical immersion is done entirely through new events, decisions, and AI modding. Sometimes you don’t want to have to re-learn the entire game just to play a challenging historical game.

This is still in very early stages, so expect some bugs! As the mod gains more traction and I work on it more however, I will iron out the kinks.

This is meant to be played with HISTORICAL FOCUSES ON. I will not be fixing anything that comes as a result of turning that off.

This will probably NOT be compatible with anything other than CSRZ’s mods, cosmetic mods, and tech mods maybe. If it changes focuses of major powers, changes the AI, the map, etc. It will not work!

FEATURES

  • A complete overhaul of the European Theater on the Eastern and Western Fronts along with North Africa: No more will you quickly conquer Britain and the USSR as Germany, or easily hold back Barbarossa as the Soviet Union. This has been balanced largely on history, though also trying to keep it fun and playable. Leave suggestions below.
    [*A complete overhaul of the Pacific and 2nd Sino Japanese Wars.
  • Hundreds of new events regarding the war making it more dynamic and immersive. German and Soviet offensive operations, events for both the Axis and Allies depending on how the war is going, and dynamic new decisions.
  • Historic peace deals, along with proper European and Asian Axis peace deal for if Germany conquers Russia and Britain, or Japan conquers the Pacific.
  • A FULLY overhauled AI for the major powers that will play well and generally historically while keeping things difficult regardless of what nation you play.
  • Original and improved additions from the original Historical Immersion Event Pack.
  • And more!

ROAD-MAP

I have a lot planned for this down the line, so please inform me of suggestions and any bugs.

V.3.0 THE CROOKED CROSS

  • Full and much more dynamic re-work of Nazi occupation of Europe along with Germanization and Lebensraum policy.
  • More Axis and Allied events in Europe, along with reworks of older events and decisions..
  • Partisan re-work in Yugoslavia, the USSR, and potentially other countries.
  • More German puppets and post-war events.

V.4.0 …TOMORROW THE WORLD

  • Theoretical invasion of North America by the Axis content and re-work.
  • "Atomic War" content and re-work.
  • Basic late 40s (45-48) Cold War content.
