Poland More Historical – Portraits.

12-06-2023 Little update. Random division commanders should be visible again.

Update to version 1v.12.13. Moreover I added some lost portraits and changed the characteristics of some generals.

Hello,
If you’re playing as Poland, you’ve surely noticed the huge changes introduced to the game by the "No Step Back" DLC. Unfortunately, to put it very mildly, these are not good changes if one pays attention to historical details. The selection of available generals is very strange, which is inconsistent with reality. So I started to change it, just for myself, so as not to get annoyed while playing.

However, when I faced the accusation that I was wasting a huge amount of time on something that no one would use but me, I decided to publish this mod.

Any comments are welcome.

Here is the list of most important changes:

1. I changed the portraits of the generals, now they are all in Polish pre-war uniforms. Because some generals can be advisors, I also changed the portraits of the advisors to keep one style.

2. When it was possible, portraits of generals come from the mid-1930s, not from WW1.

3. I brought back the historical generals, inspectors of the General Inspectorate of the Armed Forces (GISZ), who were destined to be commanders of armies.

4. I removed retired generals who played NO role in the army – they can be recruited after the outbreak of war (Józef Haller retired from 1926, Marian Kukiel retired from 1930 and Lucjan Żeligowski retired from 1927).

5. I removed Lieutenant Witold Pilecki from the group of generals. In the years 1936-1939 he was not even in the army.

6. At the beginning of 1936 there was no marshal in Poland, therefore Edward Rydz-Śmigły will be available as the marshal after completing the "Second Man of the State" focus,

7. I hid General Władysław Sikorski – since 1928 he remained without a duty assignment, he stayed mainly in France, and returned to Poland in March 1939 – therefore, he cannot be a marshal, he will be available when Poland is at war or has a democratic government.

8. Gen. Władysław Sikorski, Sanation’s opponent and co-founder of Front Morges, is no longer Sanation’s left leader.

9. Gen. Józef Haller, a right-wing nationalist, opponent of Sanation and co-founder of Front Morges, is no longer the Sanation left leader.

10. Gen. Edward Rydz-Śmigły is no longer a military theorist because he did not have such qualifications.

11. Gen. Władysław Anders is no longer an officer of the armored forces and has regained the cavalry specialization.

12. Gen. Roman Abraham received the specialization of a cavalry officer.

13. Colonels Stanisław Kopański and Stanisław Sosabowski will be available after the outbreak of war.

14. As military theoreticians, I added General Tadeusz Kutrzeba and Stefan Mossor, officers of the General Staff.

15. I removed Tomislaw Lupaszko from the group of advisors. There was no such person. On the other hand, the image and pseudonym of Lupaszko belongs to the cavalry major Zygmunt Szendzielarz, who was rather unqualified to be a theoretician.

16. General Józef Haller ceased to be a "war industrialist" adviser, I don’t know where such an idea came from.

17. As a "war industrialist" adviser, I added General Tadeusz Malinowski, who was the coordinator of the government’s activities regarding the modernization of the army and the development of the armaments industry.

18. As an advisor, I added Ignacy Paderewski – the leader of Front Morges, candidate for the democratic president of Poland and gen. Felicjan Slawoj-Skladkowski, who was prime-minister.

19. As members of the High Command, I added General Waclaw Stachiewicz, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, and General Tadeusz Kasprzycki – Minister of Military Affairs.

20. Generals Mieczyslaw Norwid-Neugebauer, Tadeusz Piskor and Kazimierz Fabrycy also became advisors.

21. In addition, I added several generals: Wilhelm Orlik-Ruckemann, Marian Januszaitis, Franciszek Kleeberg, Mieczysław Boruta-Spiechowicz, Stanislaw Grzmot-Skotnicki and Wiktor Thommee.

22. I restored Jędrzej Giertych’s face, because for unknown reasons he had the face of the late General Rozwadowski.

23. Due to the lack of a photo of Jerzy Rutkowski, I replaced him with another activist of the Young Poland Union, Władysław Jasiński.

24. Finally, I added some portraits for brigadiers… and some more.
