Description:

Hello again.

Before the First World War, Polish lands under German and Austrian rule (in the game: Poznań, Gdynia and Kraków, Lwów, Stanisławów) for economic and political reasons were treated as an agricultural base and a market. On the other hand, the lands of the former Kingdom of Poland under Russian rule (in the game: Warsaw, Lodz, Kielce, Lublin) were the most industrialized region of the Russian Empire.

Unfortunately, after the outbreak of World War I, the Russians retreating under the pressure of the German army dismantled and transported to Russia the equipment and employees of most factories of the former Kingdom of Poland. What the Russians did not take away was later destroyed and devastated by the German and Austrian occupiers.

Hence, the reborn Poland was almost completely devoid of industry. Only after regaining part of Upper Silesia (in the game: Katowice) did Poland gain significant industrial potential, but still without the armaments industry. Due to the lack of private investors, the Polish arms industry was created from scratch by the Polish state.

In 1936, Poland had 12 important military factories. They were:

I. PWU group:
1. Rifle Factory in Warsaw,
2. Test Equipment Factory in Warsaw,
3. The Ammunition Factory in Skarżysko
4. Weapons Factory in Radom.
II. PZInż group:
5. Ursus Truck Factory in Ursus
6. Factory of Passenger Cars and Vans in Warsaw
7. Ursus Motors and Fittings Factory in Warsaw
8. Foundry of Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals in Ursus
9. River shipyard in Modlin
III.
10. National Aviation Works (PZL) in Warsaw
11. The State Gunpowder Factory in Pionki
12. Mining Plant in Starachowice

All the above-mentioned factories were located in the area of Warsaw and the Old-Polish Industrial District (in the game: Kielce).

New armaments factories, for security reasons, were built as far as possible from the borders of Germany and Russia, in the so-called the security triangle, in the fork of the Vistula and San rivers, i.e. in the Central Industrial District (COP – in the game: Kielce, Kraków, Lublin).

Meanwhile in the game…
– there are no military factories in Kielce at all,
– there is no shipyard in Gdynia, although there was one,
– there are military factories in Danzig, even though there really weren’t any, because Danzig is demilitarized,
– there is only one civilian factory in Katowice, even though about 40% of Polish heavy industry was there,
– through the focus tree, more military factories are added near the border with Germany or the Soviets or in the eastern territories, which is completely unjustified historically and for security reasons, both in real life and in the game.

For the above reasons, I made this mod to make the factory placement more historical 😉

I made the following changes:

1. added three military factories, now there are 12 in total, according to the list given above,

2. for the start in 1936, all military factories are in Warsaw, Kielce and Lublin,

3. new military factories added by focus tree placed will be possible far away from Germany and Soviets,

4. in Katowice I added 5 civilian factories (now it’s finally worth fighting for Silesia), but the total number of civilian factories remains the same,

5. there are no more military factories in Danzig,

6. in Gdynia I added one shipyard,

7. I added new "material_manufacturer":
a. State Rifle Factory,
b. Starachowice Mining Plant,
c. Ursus Mechanical Plants as motorized equipment manufacturer, also as a tank manufacturer,

8. As an "industrial concern" I added:
a. Zieleniewski-Fitzner-Gamper Co.,
b. H. Cegielski Poznań Co.,
c. FABLOK Factory of Locomotives Ltd
d. Polmin, State Factory of Mineral Oils,

9. PKP is no longer an industrial concern, because it never was, but now it is a railway company.

10. PZL is now a manufacturer of light and medium aircraft (there were no other independent aircraft manufacturers in 1936 in Poland)

11. I took some oil from Krakow and added it to Lwów, where POLMIN extracted oil.

12. I added a short historical background to each concern, mostly based on Wikipedia.

13. Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski, Minister of Treasury, defender of state budget stability, promoter of Poland’s industrialization and limited state interventionism, received new traits.
