Old World Blues: Mirelurk Tribe Enhanced [Updated for OWB 5.1]
A small expansion to the Mirelurk Tribe’s focus tree with the intention of adding more late-game content and making world conquest with them a little easier. Mirelurks used to struggle as other nations progress through their tech and focus trees, however this was mostly addressed in the 5.1 update for Old World Blues.
This submod adds a few additional buffs to the nation’s signature unit. Specifically, it adds a few additional focuses which strengthen aquatic creatures and adds creature units to the XP-based infantry terrain doctrines.
The bonuses aren’t extreme, but the time at which you receive them depends on how quickly your conquests have gone. Use your early-game advantage to build up and complete the focus tree, and the mod’s bonuses will simply help keep the momentum going. On top of the recent buffs for creature units, these can result in some very powerful divisions.
I also wanted to lean into the horror and Lovecraftian tone of the tribe a little more, so the focuses which provide these bonuses describe how the tribe conquers more land, crushes all remaining opposition, and even begins terraforming the land to better suit their mirelurk masters.
I made this mod years ago to start learning HOI4 modding and have kept it up to date for myself, it’s nothing special but I’m making it publicly available in case someone wants to try it out. I’m in the process of creating a larger overhaul to the Mirelurk Tribe, but until that’s in a playable state this is available.
