Under the Blue Sky: A Mongolia Focus Tree Mod
This mod adds a vanilla-style focus tree, events, decisions, characters, achievements, 2D & 3D art and voiceover for Mongolia.
Mongolia starts as an economically primitive subject of the Soviet Union, following a Red Army-backed revolution in 1921. The country is caught between a traditional Buddhist past and the socialist march of progress. Already, the air of paranoia and persecution that would take hold of the Soviet Union is beginning to be felt in Mongolia. Peljidiin Genden, the Mongolian Prime Minister, is a staunch advocate for his country’s interests, but Moscow is growing tired of his wilfulness. How will you navigate the internal and external challenges facing this proud nation?
• Following the historical path, you will oust the rebellious Genden and root out traitors to Mongolia and to the socialist cause. Reform your society to bring it into the twentieth century and build a flowering future with your ally, the Soviet Union. Support the Soviet cause in Europe and in Asia to put a stop to German and Japanese Fascism.
• Taking an independent path under Genden, you will forge a new, Mongolian vision of socialism. Frustrate the NKVD and escape the clutches of the Soviet Union. Stir up rebellion in the Mongolic and Turkic Soviet territories to complete the Mongolian revolution. Reconcile with your Chinese neighbours to resist both Soviet and Japanese imperialism.
• Rejecting Communism entirely, you will return to Mongolia’s aristocratic and theocratic past. Rebuild your society from the ashes of socialist tyranny. Invite foreign advisors to help you meet the challenges of the modern world. Ally with Japan to defeat the Communist menace or forge your own alliance of Gelug Buddhist states. Prosecute the White cause to end the Soviet threat once and for all.
On any path, you will face a struggle to industrialise a barren and nomadic country. You will exploit its mineral wealth and make use of the vast steppe. You will develop your military to protect your fragile independence. You will create the beginnings of a Mongolian air force and perhaps even a navy, to fight on all three battlegrounds. You will seek to reclaim your lost lands and forge a new, Greater Mongolia.
Can you steer Mongolia through the troubled times of the Second World War? Can you build an economy fit to stand up to the great powers of the twentieth century? Can you reunite the Mongolic lands and reclaim a fragment of the glory of Genghis Khan? Find out now!
