Nex Chrysalica
First, it must be said that this mod wouldn’t have come to be, were it not for another mod that reworks the Changelings and serves as the basis for this submod – namely Great Feeling by catnapper and others.
Second, the purpose of this submod. The main reason, I’ve made this mod, is to skip Pax completely; In many of my playthroughs I’ve built up well, won easily and yet was handicapped in conquering the rest of the world due to the nerfs that come with Pax. Other reasons were to make the focus tree of more use, to add more flavour and to fix bugs I’ve encountered and to update stuff missing from vanilla EaW.
Contents:
– Reworked Focus Tree:
> Generally focuses take less time, so that they may more rapidly respond to the demands of the current situation
> Expanded Polar Bears and Olenia subtrees
> Modified several pre-war focuses
> Added a subtree for Black-Generationists and Prandialists
> Added a subtree for the Vhyinsekten
> Army, Airforce and Navy subtrees have been remade and are split in pre-war and war parts
> Great War focuses have also been modified
> Added a Wunderwaffen subtree
> Added a completely unfinished subtree root for Nex Chrysalica itself; At this point it allows you to skip Pax (probably)
– The Vhy
> The Vhy, short for Vhyinsekten, is essentially a replacement of the Queen’s Guard in Great Feeling; Wanting them to be visible on-map, I’ve added them as special forces units. These take less losses and fight longer; they also receive bonuses from general special forces modifiers.
> Added technologies for these units in the "Changeling Technologies" research tab. These are unlocked by taking the "Vhy Forces Expansion" focus.
> Changelings start with one Vhy unit of a locked template, although once the focus mentioned above is taken, these become fully modifiable.
> Added a commando advisor
– DLC/non-DLC compatibility
> Generally the possession of DLCs, or the lack of, should not influence the amount of content in the mod or its balance.
> BBA and non-BBA airforce techs and deployed airforces are now equivalent.
> Updated the Navy, MTG users will see a minelaying and long-range patrol submarine fleet; non-MTG users will see an escort fleet.
> Updated a naval decision to give BBA aircraft designs to BBA users.
> Some more stuff that I can’t recall now.
– Bugfixes
> Polar Bears now properly turn into a protectorate on puppeting.
> Puerto Caballo now has its name properly shown on the world map.
> Added missing gfx.
> Fixed several typos.
> Some more stuff that I can’t recall now.
– Others
> Changed starting production lines.
> Added a new MIO for support equipment.
> Changed modifiers on some ideas/traits.
> Added some of the stuff missing from vanilla EaW.
> Some more stuff that I can’t recall now.
It should be said, that if you wish to play against the Changelings, you should turn on historical AI focuses, otherwise the AI will most likely do random focuses (it should do a part of its prewar focuses somewhat reasonably, after that it’s random).
As to what the future of the mod holds, the next update will contain a general rebalancing of the Great War as well as difficulty options, so that even the more experienced players may find it a challenge. Perhaps I’ll also add some story events, if I write them before I finish coding. The work on the following update should begin in about two months.
As to the more distant future, I’d like to implement Nex properly, it being about a year-long story focus subtree. After/with that, a world conquest subtree. Technically the current few Nex focuses fulfill that goal, since you skip the equestrian unrest (with extreme prejudice) and you get to generate wargoals much faster. Important to note is that the existing focuses MAY allow you to ignore pax; I consider the chance that they work at about 70% so if they don’t I’ll just have to fix them in the next update.
At last I would like to ask for forgiveness, as playing hoi4 is a sin in itself, and I sin further by playing the pony mod. Any prayers, that I may have the strength to drop hoi4, I happily welcome.
