Description:

Disclaimer: This mod attempts to provide events from the Japanese perspective over the pre-war and war years. The content will occasionally be unfiltered and serves the purpose of immersion, as well as providing deeper insight into Japan of that period and of its wider empire. Any controversial content should therefore not necessarily be taken as my personal view.

About this Mod

I think before I begin, an expression of humility is appropriate. I am not the only one who could do such a mod, I am not the best person to make such a mod, I may only simply be that someone stepping forward to attempt to do this.

The history of the Japanese Empire over the period of the 1930s and early 1940s (Early Shouwa – 11 to 21) is a black box to many: to many modern Japanese, all the more so for those of us disconnected from the political and cultural context of Japan. Historiography in the West very much relies on broad simplifications, odd comparisons to something readers can understand, all while a deeper delving into the historical record adds more confusion to those willing.

At the same time, whether the Japan of the 12th, 16th, 19th or 21st century, what this country provides in content, in cultural wealth, in depths to the human experience, is the equivalent of sticking one’s foot into the ocean, and always being beckoned to explore further.

The tumultuous period of 1936 to 1945 is certainly no exception to this.

This will be a long road. I imagine it may come ever closer to what I prepared for Germany, though with the added experience I have gained from that mod. This is a very challenging project which I pledge to do as accurately as I am able to, which may take a while. You can expect regular updates.

I hope you enjoy what I have prepared.

Along the way, if you like the events and think they enhance your game, please let me know and leave a like (a comment would also be much appreciated, with any feedback you could provide). I am of course open to ideas that I am not already working on.

What does the mod do?

For those unfamiliar, it may be good to check out my other mods such as for
Germany and the Spanish Civil War .

Accordingly, this mod adds historical events that are currently absent in the game for Japan. These events are simply informational and cosmetic, adding to the flavour of a playthrough, and do not alter the game balance in any way. As such, they are fully compatible, even enhanced in combination, with my other mods. Furthermore, it aims to be fully compatible with the Vanilla game, particularly with the No Compromise, No Surrender DLC.(as well as with the Thunder at our Gates DLC, down the line).

The two versions that form the basis of the mod are the English and Japanese versions, which I aim to concentrate on initially as events are added.

A Note of Thanks

As I have done before for my other mods, I would to thank my subscribers after the number of you subscribed went over 100 this week.

As is the case for my Spanish Civil War for instance, the Second Sino-Japanese War and history of Japan in WW2 remains a passion of mine, and this is very much a passion project. It aims to be the most comprehensive historical events mod for Japan in the 1936-1945 period, ever made.

As such, even if it had been only 40 of you, I still would continue with my efforts for those interested, as well as for myself. It has been a difficult week for me, and it meant a lot to me to see people continue to enjoy the mod.

Thank you for your continued confidence. I will do my best.

My other work:

Germany: More Events (Vanilla +) – Historical Germany events from 1936 onwards.

Spanish Civil War: Vanilla + – Spain (both events during and after the Civil War), so I would humbly recommend it as well if you enjoy a historical playthrough.

Japanese Imperial Year / 日本の元号 – A counter at the top of UI showing the Shouwa Year that updates annually. Good for added immersion.
